Water pressure sensor

In my experience the problem has always been the wiring harness/connector not the sensor. If this is a twin application you could swap sensors and see if the problem follows the sensor.

First and foremost lets ask what type of sensor are you talking about OEM Merc for PCM 555 / ECM 555 or ?
Merc oem water pressure sensor - that sensor can go bad and some are bad right out of the box.
you can clean the hole out and try to see if that helps. I always do as well to see what takes place
Also poor grounding does not help for its location
RFI and EMI knocks the sensor out as well. spark plug wires and so forth
