Default Prop problems with my buddies 99 Baja 252

Hey guys

My buddy bought a 98 Baja 252 with a 454 and he’s not even getting 53mph and revving to high(he doesn’t remember rpms.... winter now)

He’s running a 5! Blade 23 pitch prop and revving out. What prop should he try next??!! Where should we even start??!! I’m thinking ditch the 5 blade but not sure where to start!

which 454? the mag or the 330 ? Im guessing mag...try a 24 bravo 1 4 blade. use a gps for speed, and report back what you are getting rpm wise

I haven’t tried the Bravo 4 but I’m a huge fan of the Rev4 prop on Bajas. They have a lot of cup that helps get the heavy bow up out of the water.

Huge problems are rotted transoms, broken stringers, delamination, If he’s seeking max top speed, put a 23 mirage on it

i agree. A mirage plus 23 pitch. But honestly 53 ish on gps is about right for that setup.

I kinda feel the same way about it... I had a 232 Islander with the 454 mpi. 54-55mph is all she had. Ran a 22P bravo 1 prop

+1 for 23 Mirage Plus,,,,,, 23 5 blade is way to much prop for that boat
