Hole where transducer sits
 

Hi all- I have a 26 Baja Outlaw 2007, love it! I am kind of stumped,maybe you guys can educate me! The transducer sits on the floor of the boat, than there is the liner. In my boat there is no "seal" around the transducer, so I can see/access the water that comes from I guess the front of the boat from washing etc? Should there be a washer/seal around the transducer? How do you get the water out- shop vac? If you don't get the water out I assume there could be quite a bit of water in between the liner and the floor. What do you think? Thanks for your help.

assuming you have the airmar p79 (AIRMAR) you want the base flooded with marine/rv antifreeze. the base is attached the hull (i used 3m 4200) and then its flooded and the transducer is just 1/4 turn twist lock onto the base with an o-ring. message me your cell # i just replaced/redid mine on my 2008 30OL and have several pics of the process...

Hi 30 Outlaw- I am not replacing the transducer, just wondering about the water that sloshes in between the floor and the liner. What do you think?

put a floor jack under one of the trailer cross members should be able to get it higher that way vs. using the trailer jack and let it drain. if there is still a little in that wont drain, get a cheap drill pump and like a 1/4" hose and put it in the drain hole and pump the rest out,,,,

You would think there would be some kind of easier access/plug for this area as I think it could acquire quite a bit of water? How many people actually suck the water out of this hole?

i'm sure nobody including myself... if there is quite a bit of water i would find the source of the water first.... 99.9% of water will drain out through the drain plug with the bow lifted high...

This has always baffled me, on my islander, in the drain plug tube about 1/2 way between the outer and inner transom there is a oval hole on the bottom that leads to the void between the boat hull and the liner. So water that gets in between the hull and liner can come up thru the slot and into the bilge. There is always some water in there, so I do shop vac it out if im not using the boat for a while.
I ran a borescope thru it and you can see the bottom of the transducer. Bad design ? Probably. But that's the way it is on mine.

My drain hole is above the liner, so the water between the liner and the hill does not drain through there. Crazy design huh?

My drain hole is also above the liner, but the oval hole in the drain hole tube is open to the area between the liner and the hull.
