2001 496 Ho Outlaw 25
 

Just got boat worked on and splashed for first time this weekend. Had steering pin replaced with all new bellows, u joints, trim limit switch, etc. also got stock prop cleaned up 23 mirage plus from having a couple small dings, nothing major, boat had run 67-68mph gps last year, it was just a handful with rusted steering pin. The issue I’m having is on plane I cannot trim it up to 1/4 without blowout= 61-62mph, where as last year I had to trim to 1/2 + for top speed. I also can hit rev limiter very easily at 1/4 trim. Is this a factor of pourly cleaned up prop? Or something to do with trim.
Also while looking around at their work on drive I noticed my plug in hanging for my Speedo..

Yes sounds like poor prop work if nothing else was worked on. Maybe something else in front of the prop on the drive? I had a labbed 25 mirage plus from bblades that I liked a lot.

What do you mean by plug in hanging for speedo? The hose that attaches to the drive for the speedo? That wouldn’t cause the issues your having.

Thanks for reply. Didn’t mean anything about plug but fact of was left unattached. Can I plug in without pulling drive? And Prop looked good but that was my assumption that they must’ve taken too much off cuz I had better results with it dinged up. Anyone have a stock 23 mirage plus for sale in good condition or labbed 25?

It would probably be a little too much not labbed but hard to say with how the 23 is on your boat now. I don’t think it’d be too far off. I think a shop like bblades would want you to run it unlabbed first to see what kind of rpm your running with it stock.

What plug for the speedo are you referring to?

Did you have the white plastic on right side at your rear trimcylinder mountig??
If wrong side that need for Bravo 3 you are allways higher with the trim!

If you have not this part,your drive is much over 20 years!!!
I can not trim down on trailer no matter what side it is in.
When you take a close look on the pin from trimcylinders,you can see what side the limit insert is.

Hey Head Rush 2.. I have the same boat: https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...25-outlaw.html I did the same thing and had my prop reworked after I nicked it up and It never ran the same. Slip numbers went way up. (I think its documented somewhere in my thread) I got a good deal on a Labbed 25P Mirage plus and it performed more like it did before I had the 23 reworked. Just picked up a labbed Bravo 1 24P which should help with hole shot. I often have a full boat 6 adults, 250 Can Cooler that takes up the entire floor in the cuddy full of beer, ice, & food, & usually a half tank of gas so getting on plane takes a bit with the 25P.

I have a labbed 23M+ from Blades on my 272 and it works very well.

Yea no results with the 25P before the box and no top speed run with the 25 yet. I get the boat back today so hopefully this year will present an opportunity to have a light lad and myself to run it hard.
