I didn’t read the link. Boy i thought that boat would be a little faster than that. I’m wondering if Baja raised the x dimension at some point.

I too boat there occasionally.
Based on your original post, I would go with the 25. A single engine is so much easier to maintain. Only one prop to mangle in the shallow water too. It's hard to run WOT there as it's so crowded, so the only advantage I see with the 29 is it will ride better.. Most of the 29's I've seen only run about 70, and I've seen some 25's that can do that, or close. Your truck will pull it easier, faster to wipe down, Just easier all the way around. I do love twins, on bigger waters, but they are just more work. |
I have a 25 ol with a 496 ho. I enjoy it a lot and have boated on the chain. Lots of 25s out there. I think the 25 is perfect size for that lake and lake Geneva, castle rock, Winnebago, the usual inland lakes with fun places to stop. Now if I am going on Lake Michigan or the ozarks, Cumberland I’d want a 29. I’ve done it with my 25 but it will get rough. More engines more maintenance and definitely more weight for a half ton

Some of these BS claims are just that, its funny how fast a guys boat is until you're on it and its 10 mph slower.....Oh and buy the way those Fountains will spank a Baja's A$$ and I owned 4 of them

. I owned a 35 fountain single step with twin 496HO's and true honest speed on that boat is 72- 74 miles an hour true GPS , I currently own a 33 outlaw with 496HO's straight bottom and this boat will run 74 on GPS as well, and I honestly believe in rough water my 33 Baja might walk away from the fountain |
Twins all the way. Especially the time One goes down and you are out in the middle of the lake.
I put over 1000 hours on a 29 2000 model w 385 Mags. Never missed a beat. Well once I pulled out the Cool Fuel Chit. It is still running strong w around 1500 hours. Never been opened up. 70 MAX all day long. |

I had a 2000 33 OL with 502 mag MPI and on a good day it would hit 70, Ill never be convinced a baja hull is faster than a Fountain with the same power, I bet Reggie would love to hear that......:lolhit:

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...7ca0f568d.jpeg well, I don't know what to tell you, but Baja did raise the X dimension on the 33 outlaws around 2002 and made a big difference in the ride and the speed, above are pictures of my 2004 35 fountain and my 2005 33 outlaw which is bigger than my 35 fountain was lol both great boats. I'm just sharing real life experience, who knows maybe results very depending on the driver lol what do you think a 35 fountain non step with 502's runs? It' be lucky if it got 70, a friend which is on here might reply if he wishes, but he had a 2001 35 with 502's single step and he was lucky to hit 71. again, these are honest true GPS speeds not the BS that some of the guys are posting |
