It seems to me the closet on both sides in the 29ol cabin is where the space difference is... Dash is moved ~18" rearward, rear bench remains in same place, and cockpit size gets sacrificed. Up front the cabin bench seat length and bed appear to be the same between the two boats, just the 302 doesn't have the closets. Cabin feels bigger on 302 due to a taller deck/ceiling.
The 302 does feel a lot bigger, just slept my family of 6 comfortably on ours last weekend, 2 in cockpit and 4 in cabin (have a Bimini enclosure).
