4 blade on H2X

Anyone running a 4 blade prop on a H2X? If so what where the results? I am running 3 blade mirage + now, wanting to try 4 blade. What brand and pitches are you useing?

If you're currently running a 23P Mirage Plus, get a 23P Mercury Revolution 4, NOT a Bravo 1. I think you'll be pleased. You may lose 1 - 2 mph at WOT, however.

The only way I would use a 4 blade would be if: a lot of horsepower, like 600+, difficult to get on plane, cavitation, or very slow to plane, or very high x, 3 blades are always from my exp. 2-3 mph faster on average and the worst for me was 5 mph slower with the 4 blade

I am running a 25P Mirage Plus.
Thanks for the reply...

LIQUID ASSET

I am not running alot of horse power, but my x is raised. The 25 mirage plus i have does really well. On takeoff i just rev to about 3000 rpm until it planes over then it is fine, (slow planing) never blows out this way... Once on plane the mirage has never blown out..I figured a Bravo 4 blade would be slower on the top end, but figured i could get it labbed to get back the few mph i lose over the 3 blade? Was just curious if anything about the 4 blade was better on this boat? My dealer told me today he would let me try one this summer as long as i brought it back undamaged.

go for it/try it out

thats the best way,try it out and dont hit anything!!!! although you have some good feedback.

I'll try anything once, but I would have the 35'' mirage labbed or if that turns 2 many rpms go to a 27'', are you running a 502 or whipple or what? was the x raised origanally or did you use a shortie? How fast are you going at what rpm?

I thoght about having the 25 Mirage labbed, but I am only about 150 rpm from rev limiter in the cooler temps of the year now? I am running stock 502 except for a Whipple flame arrestor. The x was raised by Baja when I ordered the boat new, they do this for my dealer, he said he has to sign a waiver or something, and that they only do it for a couple dealers??? He has experience as to what works well on most models of Bajas. I run 75(gps) at about 4800 - 4900 rpm. I was afraid if I had the 25 labbed, I would be bumping the limiter? Was just curious if a 4 blade would offer any advantages, and if anyone had experiences with one on a H2X...

Thanks for the input everyone!

you could lab the 25 and add addtional cup to account for the rpm which will result in addtional lift and a little more speed,as far as the 4 bld it will plane out quicker and probably run a few mph slower but with greater overall " charistics "? such as mid range speeds, and handling at high and lower speeds .

How much to lab the 25 and add the additional cup? I may try this...I would be happy to gain a couple mph:)

BAJA BAILEY ,175.00 plus 15.00 for shipping back to you ,if we have to make any adjustments later in the summer they will be done at no charge to you other than shipping back.Thank's Darin

I would lab a 27 mirage plus. It'll be faster than a bravo 1. When I tried a bravo 1 on my 25 o/l it porpoised pretty bad at higher trim angles which I needed to get any speed and rpms. I would expect the same from your h2x but it sure wouldn't hurt to try your luck. Good luck..

Thanks Darin, I may just have you to lab my current prop. I'll let you know...

I had a 23p rev 4 on my H2X it really din't work to well. I had bad cavitation problems it would blow out just about every time just before planning out.I would stick with the 3 blade.

Thanks for the info. I knew some of you guys on here had to have already tried this... I figured I would be able to get enough feedback from you guys on here to decide wheather to even fool with trying a 4 blade..

That is VERY strange. Never heard of anyone having that experience before.

hot98hd 01-05-2003 04:58 PM

It did seem kind of strange it wouldn't do it all the time but there was times i had to try to take off like 10 times before i could get it up on plain .Switched back over to the mirage 23p 3 blade had no problems i am going to try a 25p mirage next.
