Up til this year, I pulled my
29 with a 90' 1/2 ton chevy 4x4,
trans. coolers, good trailer brakes.
Realizing that this was about 2000#
over the recommended limit, I drove
it sensably, no trans. problems.
I even towed a 33' o/l a short distance,
worked ok.
Got a 2500HD 4x4 6.0 last year,
what a difference!, I can now pass
on the 2 lanes , and don't feel the
ass end being pushed around on
curving roadways.

If your a ford man, go with the
diesel, my experiences with my
friends V-10 has been underwelming,
lots of noise, not alot of go.

I have a 1994 ext cab Z71 with a 350 eng, 4 speed auto trans, and 3.42 gears, the tires are about 2 inches shorter than stock so that helps out on the gear ratio, it pulled my old H2X I had with out a problem, I sold the H2X and bought a 29 outlaw with twin big blocks and pulled it 350 miles from Dallas area to Beaumont, no problems, could run 70-75 on the highway, but you could tell you had a lot of weight behind you, I will use this truck for about 10 months then upgrade to something a little bigger, just be careful

Thumbs up f-350 p/s

Don't get me wrong. The 350 pulls much better than my 1/2 ton sub but i towed my 33 almost two full summers with my surburban without any problems. I did use 4 wheel low for loading on the ramps and backing up in my driveway which i don't have to do anymore. My 350 p/s has a whopping 2500 miles and stock tires. I've gotten as high as 18.5 mpg @ 75 mph non towing and around 13 towing @ 75 to 80 mph. Everybody tells me the p/s picks up power and inproved mileage @ 10,000 miles so in four years I'll see if they are blowing smoke or not.
