So how many have actually started winter projects?
How many of you actually started the projects you planned on?
Im going to lie and say im in the research phase still, (also it is too cold and i need to get a job to buy anything more than a new prop!) Tommy |
I've bought parts,
does that count????? jt. |
Hmmm. No.
|
Just pulled motor #1 today
|
Hard mounted fans in the cuddy. Ran another power source in behind the glove box. My dvd lcd combo should be here any day. In the process of adding stereo equipment. Added edie marine drive shower. Also added two more anodized cup holders to finish out the cup holders.
|
Replaced the boring dingy white cup holders with purple powder coated spun alluminum ones. Also added purple bezels under my faria gauges with the silver trim. What a difference. Eric
|
Bought a few things....including a house. Kinda slows down the boat work thing. Actually though, I need the weather to warm up some, then I can get at it a bit more.
|
Started and close to finished, but I'm had some dealer help.
1) Added water pressure gauges. I mounted them and plumbed to engine, dealer connected to engine. 2) Added GPS speedo. 3) Labbed Props. 4) Dealer installed two Gil Sea Strainers. 5) Added pretty Alumium cup holders in place of all the plastic ones. 6) Replaces the plastic vent on the steps to the cuddy with a billet vent, and added a billet fire extingisher bracket and chrome extinguisher. 7) Currently having custom billet speaker grills made. 8) As soon as boat is back from dealer (soon I hope) aaan OSO brother is going to add two more speakers and another amp to the stereo set up and install the custom four person communication system I bought last summer. Then the boat will have all our personal touches and be ready to enjoy all season. I cannot wait. Of course these to not include any engine mods like many of you are doing. I don't get the most satisfaction from doing stuff like this to the boat! |
Hey Dock! Enjoyed chatting it up with you at the OSO Chill Out. If you guys want to have some fun in the Atlantic waters this summer you should consider coming up for our poker run in August. HRPA would love to have you!
Sorry, but I'm OT. It's been too damn cold here to do anything to the boat!! I did send my props down to Throttle Up for relabbing. |

1. New Imron paint and graphics.
2. New cockpit interior. 3. Added 2 more stereo speakers. 4. Removed windshield in favor of windscreen. Jeff |
Jeff
Where did you get the windscreen? Got any pics? |
Since I'll finally be employed again after an unplanned 9 month vacation looks like some of those projects will get done before the season. Here's the list...less than 50 days until the Lake Travis Baja Poker Run...guess I better haul a$$.
1) Stereo rework...amps/sub/transom remote 2) Simrek drive shower 3) Billet air cleaner 4) New slip-on for the bike too...does that count? Dock...where are those speaker grills coming from...you have pics?? Eric |
Yes - Dock you must post those speaker grills, I would love to see those. Eric
|
1- regular maintnance ( Change all fluids and service outdrive)
2- complete stereo system new head unit speakers 2- amps and subs 3- cup holders 4- momo wheel 5- cmi headers 6- az speed and marine ecu 7 K&N |
BajaForce,
That is a pretty BIG project. We need to see some pictures of your boat also. You may win the price. Guys, As for the speaker grills, they have not been made yet. I hope to hear from the guy this week to come and look at the cad drawings and approve them. He does a lot of really cool custom stuff for motorcycles, from wheels to bolt on accessories. He owes me some money that he cannot pay at this time and we are doing a trade. The two large sub grills and four 5-1/4 speaker grills will end up costing me around $800.00. This is VERY high, but the only way I can get something for my money. I will post some pictures as soon as I get them. |
Bajarunner,
I am modifying a windscreen from a 33 outlaw. Jeff |
Dock,
I hope to be done in about 30 days, I will post before and after pics when i am done. Jeff |
Installed new flooring
Removed the interior to install Lonseal Loncoin 2 flooring in the boat. Just got tired of the carpet. Almost done, will post when completed
John |
man i better get started on all these projects...spring isnt too far away.

Nice floor,
How did you make fit good? I'm keepong low-key this year. Basic mods after purchasing the boast used. Lab props, bezels, complete compound and wax, lost of gelcoast ding and scratch work, gps, like to ad a head compartment, rebuild trim cyls - got moose milk in the res. Nothing fun like blowers and such |
This weekend, doing a little gel coat work. I am hoping to post before and after pics. I have never done gel coat, so Gordo is going to be the teacher.
I hope there are beverages provided...HA! |
Outlaw Cowgirl,
Beverages WILL be provided! :D :D |
How hard is it to replace an impellor in an Alpha? wheres the cheapest place to get one? What about a Rotor cap, coil, and 8 or 9mm plug wires?
Just basic maintence....hoping to replace the 600rpms I lost last season. Coil is 3 years old, rotor cap is at least 5, plug wires are 3 and the plugs are from this past july. Oh yeah, forgot replacing the Bosch Platinums with NGK's which love the bigger wires... Tommy |
Tommy
How about replacing that V-6 with a V-8. Jest messin with ya! |
Sure.... If enough people send me enough money it will be a ZZ4 crate motor!!!
More seriously...I would like to find some Vortec Heads, thinner head gaskets to raise the comp ratio up a bit, Vortec intake and 4V carb if they are cheap.... What is the going rate to install heads, carb and intake?? I figure is isnt worth spending 8,000+ on a new motor for my parents boat... Im going to save the money, and buy something small and light so that the Thunderbird can pull it to the marina until I can afford a truck :) Tommy |
Tommy : I think my buddy still has all the Vortec stuff at his shop.
Save your lunch money!!!!!:D And no........I havnt done anything yet !!! Lots of plans, just to damn cold !! |
Do you think he would take 200?
|
Probably.......If I tell him what a good guy you are {LOL}
He keeps the cleanest shop you ever saw,I know he hates having it around... If you are serious I will check on Mon. ? |
It was the whole motor with the blocked cracked right? Vortec Heads, Matching intake, 4V carb? Where is the shop at (distane from Alum Creek?) If he would take 200, I would buy it.
|
His shop is in Rossmoyne....Just north of Cin. Little less than a hour. About a quarter mile from Reindle {spl?} powerboats
shop.. I can't remember about the carb ? Vortec heads & Roller cam are worth way more than that !! The heads are supposed to make a huge diff in power. I will check Mon. |
The vortec motor... diff heads, intake, and carb makes around 32 hp more than me. I think it already has a roller cam....Let me know, thanks,
Tommy |
I am going to start work on mine hopefully this week. pull the motor change the pistons, rods, bearings, and intake. That's just the start of things.
|
I built-in my Air Condition that I bought last year. I also added a 7" LCD with TV Tuner and DVD Player. In the engine compartment I added a sea strainer, and braided lines. I have included a link for everything except the engine compartmemt, when I take some of them I will post them.

Steelware
Tell me a little bit about that AC install!! I like that. Was it difficult? Where did you get it? What is the cost? etc.... |
It is a Bay Air unit from Innova Tech. I will provide a link at the bottom of this post for them. What I did was purchase the unit from them, and modify it to fit where the porta potty goes. The unit itself cost $995 I think. I work for a steel fabricator, so I made a transition for the unit to mount to the vertical panel. This system runs off of a cooler that you fill with ice and it circulates the cold water through a heat exchanger which in turn cools the air. That is what the two fittings on the right hand side are for. It will cool the cabin of the 25 really good, I have two different size coolers one I use for just daytime, when I want to cool off on a hot day, the other is much larger and it will last all night. The best thing about this is it does not require shore power or an inverter to operate. It just runs off of 12 volt dc. I made the grilles out of oak and expanded metals, and screen. The bottom vent is just to let air into the compartment so it will not choke the fan. If you have anymore questions let me know I will be glad to help you. I talked to Ralph at Innova Tech.
