B-craig, I was going to have a trade originally but wound up selling it privately. Why?

Fatdaddy,
I'm just trying to compere our two deals. I hope I'm not getting too personal and if I am I do appaligise. I just see this as a good place to find information so we don't get screwed. With that said, can I ask what the extra $9000 in warranty was for? The only thing I was offered was the Merc warranty. $1500 each and I had a year for that. Craig |
Craig, fire away. You are not getting too personal at all. I'd be happy to compare deals w/ you if it'll help you or me. I liked my price based on the prices of boats I saw at the boat show. I, too, am freaked about the amt. of money I paid. I went from an $18k boat to a $59k boat to the present in a short 4 yrs. The 5 yr. warranty I'm getting is the Mercruiser warranty which must be purchased before the 1 yr. factory warranty expires. I was told that retail is about $5400 per engine. What is the $1500 warranty that you are speaking about. Ric

Ric,
Cool, I'll check on my $1500, the wife knows all the $'s and is in bed. But I do know it was a Mercruiser warranty not an after market one and was not $5400 each. I think this was talked about on this or anouther page. I'll check and let you know what I find. I too have made the same kinds of jumps $10000 to $50000 to now in 5 years:D |
Ric,
I see you did your homework on this. After looking at it I think it was more like $3000 each Not $1500 each If I'm wrong I'm sorry Craig |
Ok I found it
Its called "Pasport Premiere" from Marine Innovations Warranty Corp. that was $1650 each. Not what I want. I'll check on the "real" Mercruiser warranty. Craig |
I drove up RC CONGEL and bought my boat there also. The best deals are there. I plan on ordering my 36 thru them.
|
Craig, Thanks for the info. I had the Passport Premier warranty on my old boat. Per my mechanic, nothing was covered. The warranty on the 33 is the 5 yr. Q guard, I think. Ric

My dealer never called me back today. I check back with them on Fri.

All the extended warranties are farmed out to 3rd parties and they all have similar if not identical language and terms. Mercury is not in the extended warranty buss. but they do "market" one! How much success you have in using it all depends on you understanding the coverage, deductables, and limits. To get the most out when you need it, it takes a friendly service dept. with experience submitting claims to any of these 3rd party providers. One word in the wrong place or order, or choice of words or scenario, can make the difference...do the homework on the contract to begin with, and know ahead of time where to take your boat when you want to use the warranty. Some of the ded. are pretty stiff (but there's a way around that ;) ) and some things will only be covered one time only, from what I understand. Good luck, RPM
