I was out boating yesterday and I remembered taking some pics for you as I remember you were thinking of mounting yours in a similar fasshion. I like this location because it is in perfect view for me and I didn't have to drill through any fiberglass. The cabin hatch shelf there is a soft plastic and easy to patch up if I ever sell the boat.
Also, the beauty of it is that my system is completely portable. I didn't want to hard wire it because I will be eventually buying a second antenna for the truck and I can use it in both easily.
