Then Gordo took the wheel and really worked her over. As you can see.........SHE SCOOTS!
Not a real good pic I guess...it says 65, but he got her to 66 |
Wow, if you did sixty with the throttle that far back, can you guess how fast it would go with the throttle lever a little closer to the pointy end?
|
:D :D :D
That's what I was thinking......Hehehehehehe.... Hey cowgirl, post some full pics of the boat if you have them. What size Outlaw? My guess is a 25. Seeeeeeeya |

I was not going 60 in that pic, but I am pretty sure I was in this one...I did not think it was a good pic....
|
I pulled her up to the dock too......after three or four tries, and Mike coaching...he only yelled at me once.
While Ron backed the Durango in, which he did perfect, I pulled her on the trailer, with coaching from Mike.......and that is where she ran out of gas. I had never pulled up to a dock or put a boat on a trailer. Thanks Mike, we could not have done any of this without you and Julie! You all ROCK!!!!!! |

Here she is...the MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THE WORLD!!!!!
|
SWEET!!!!!!! What a feeling!
Leave it to Gordo to wring it out!!!!Yeehaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! :p |
Great to see you get her out. It's a feeling you'll never forget!:D
|
I did not think it was a good pic....
sure looks like a good pic to me. hair flyin in the wind , not a care in the world. doesnt get much better ;) congrats guys! |
Congats on the maiden voyage!!!!!
I warned ya about the gas guage:D When it gets below a 1/4 tank, it goes down in a HURRY. I learned my lesson a few times:eek: Once you get a little seat time, you'll be able to turn it on a dime when docking and loading it on the trailer. It is so easy to manuever in tight spaces once you get used to it. It does start to feel a little loose above 60 with the Mirage+. I could tell by the tach thats the prop you were running. Try a 24 Bravo if you can. It lifts the whole boat more evenly unlike the Mirage+ which lifts from the bow. It made the boat feel a lot less flighty and also gets on plane a lot quicker. Congrats again. I'm glad you're enjoying it. |
The pics are great!
I am so happy for you! HAVE FUN ALL SUMMER GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
that is so cool, have a great summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Wonderful!!! That's great guys!
You guys and the boat look great. What a great feeling, I'm sure! :) Looks chilly... :D |
Awesome! Did you realize this is only the beginning?
Keep the pictures coming. How about a complete interior shot, and a cuddy shot next? :) :) :) :) :) |
Congrats Guys!!! Where did you take her out to on the maiden voyage? Any prob's with low water levels? Boat looks great. I bet you guys are pumped.
Have fun.... and we'll see ya on the water!! BTW - I have some different props we can try. 23 Mirage, 22 Bravo 1, and a 24P 3-blade from Chad Hill (new purchase). But, like Griff said, the 24 B1 might be the ticket since the rpm's are that high. |
Damn Gordo, How many boats are you going to drive in a week???:D :D :D Boat looks great !!! Have fun and be safe. Wardey
|
You looked cold, have fun & best wishes!! :chimp:

I had never pulled up to a dock or put a boat on a trailer. Cowgirl, you just keep doing it!!! I think its real cool that you're doing the docking and trailer loading. It gets easier every time. You're bound to mess it up once in while, hell, we all do. But keep at it because there is nothing cooler (or sexier) than seeing a nice "go-faster" pull up to a dock with pretty girl at the helm!! Thats a nice looking boat, always liked the Outlaws. No nonsense nice American (no Euro crap) lines. Plus they run good and they like a chop. Have fun Outlawcowgirl:D :D |
Congratulations! i remember my first time...............driving my own boat!! ;) :D
best of luck, chad |
Congrats, Hope we can get together at LOTO. Good choice on instructors. Forrest
|
Congrats guys! Great pics:D
|
It was fun and it was very cold that evening. It was worth it, Gordo needed to see what he had to tweak!!HA
|
Will "she" be getting wet again this weekend?
|
23p Rev4 is what I am running. Nice 24......nice to increase the fleet around here.
Have fun, be safe....you have to drive them a bit when you get into the 70's.:D :D |
Very impressive test ride
Especially considering a fairly brisk 25-30+mph winds across the lake, (not that uncommon for Perry). The look on Carries' face when she first came up on plane was priceless. Ron was just as anxious to get behind the wheel, and was ready to see what she could do. I admit, I was getting pretty excited myself when they finally asked me if I wanted to drive. ;) The boat felt really solid with nothing sounding loose, no rattles, and no squeaks, so I just had to open her up for a bit. A nice solid ride in a good 12"-14" chop.
Ron & Carrie both did a great job of driving. They both, (ok, all three of us) tried to move the tabs the exact opposite of how they are currently set up, so I'm thinking that will get changed before the next time out to better fit how both Ron and Carrie naturally use them. As for docking, Carrie had her hands full with a fairly strong breeze, even in the ramp area. She overcame some nerves on the first aproach and came to the dock in good shape on the second try. After that, we circled around and repeated it a number of times so she could practice, each one getting better and better. Kinda like "touch & go" landings. She did a great job, especially considering the tough conditions. Ron already had experience pulling a small camper and got a quick feel for the boat trailer. The extra length kinda threw him off at first, (almost double the camper) but he quickly overcame the differences and handled backing down the ramp and backing into the storage with ease. Griff, You and I had discussed the prop before, and after feeling how it performed, and seeing 5600rpm's last night, I agree more than ever about a 24p 4-blade, maybe more. I have a couple of others I would like to try just to see what the boat likes. I'd like to see about 5k to 5100rpmmax. Anyone around here have a 24p Bravo-4, a 22-24p Hydromotive Q-IV &/or 25p Mirage+ we could borrow?;) Wardy, I got called a "boat whore" more than once this last week. I guess there are worse things in life to be called... BTW, THANKS for all the help last weekend! |
5600 rpms!!!!! WOW, the most I had ever seen was just under 5500 at max speed. Trimming up more could give more rpms, but the speed didn't go up. Must have been some cool air and a perfect chop.
I remember when I got it the tabs switches were set up wrong. It was my first boat with them and I got used to it and just left them alone. I tried a 23 REV 4 and really did not like the way the boat felt with it. Just couldn't get the bow to lift enough. I think a QIV would be about the same. The 24 Bravo was the best overall that I had I had tried. |
Carrie & Ron,
You guys did a great job driving! That was a blast! I'm sure glad we didn't run out of gas! Ron would of gotten pretty cold swimming us back to the dock. :D |

Scotty boats on Hartwell in SC. He has a bad boat, that thing will fly. Oakley put a lot of money in his boat.
