Over Propped!
Well, I got the new 342 wet over the weekend.
I took it easy during the first 6 hours running between 1500 - 4000 RPM's. Made 2 full speed runs for about 30 seconds each and I could only get 4500 RPM's with both tabs tucked and the drives trimmed as high as 7 on the indicators. I had 1/4 tank of fuel with 4 adults. The liquid filled Gaffrig speedo read 68 MPH. I'm going to swap the 26 Bravo 1's with a pair of 24 labbed race props that the dealer has. Hoping for 5100 RPM's and 72-73 MPH. Whats everyone think? Overpropped...
Yep, sounds like too much prop.
You should be turning close to 5000. The 24's should work out nicely. |
with both tabs tucked up, right ? 24" labs will get you to 5k. |
Not sure what your engines are but you sound over propped.

He's got 496HO's(from another thread)
4600-5000rpm. |

For what its worth, I'm running 24 B1s on my 33' Outlaw. Run around 74 (gps) @ 5200 (HP500s). I've tried 28 B1s and they were way too much. I was going to try 26s but Darin wanted a shot at reworking the 24s. I should get them this week.
I think you'll pick up 400 - 600 rpm with the labbed 24s, which should put you in the ballpark. |
Better yet how about getting 28's and BLOWERS:) :) :)

Are you sure your 24's haven't been re-pitched? Your numbers would suggest a slip of only 6%. My 2001 29 has a slip of about 10 - 11% (87mph theory, 77-78 real) |
The 342 with ho's should run about 69 or 70 at 5,000
