Default 29 outlaw or 302?

just wondering what would give a better ride a 29 outlaw or 302?
what boat has more effective hull in the water--with the 302 having to count the swim deck as length? and how much better these would be than my existing 272.

thanks to all.

I can’t comment as to the difference between a 272 and a 29/302. I went from a 24OL to a 29OL and the difference was considerable. I seldom have to slow down for anything vs. the 24.

I think you should look at the comparison not just as a length difference but more in terms of single engine vs. twin engine. The twin-engine experience is totally different.
Twin-engine boats bury you in the seat when you hit the throttles – plus all the extra noise is cool.

Also - top speed in my 24 was about 65mph. Nowadays when I hit 65 it’s hard for me to believe that’s all I had in the old boat (Current boat will run 78mph with 2 x HO’s).

They will both ride better than your
272, weight and length matter.

They will basically ride the same,
their hulls are very similar,
styling is the main difference.

I've ridden in both, I own a 302 with twin 502s and full steering. They run pretty much the same beacuse of the effective hull in the water. The most significant difference is that the 302 really feels like a bigger boat and has more room. I refer to mine as a high-perfromance bath tub because of the amount of room in cockpit and cabin as well as lots of freeboard. I would think that on the hair edge the 29 would run a tad better, but I have yet to have any issue with the 302. I came from a blown Shooter (272) so the upgrade was way more that three feet.

I stepped from a 25 Outlaw to my 29, a big difference in ride with the length and extra weight. I like Outlaws personally.

I have a friend with a '94 272. I have a '99 302. The 302 rides considerably better. Like mentioned, I rarely back off the throttles for anything (inland lakes and rivers). And the boat looks and feels like alot more than 3 feet bigger than the 272. I would guess the edge would go to the Outlaw in speed. I went for the 302 for cockpit room. Had a good deal turned up on an Outlaw first, I would have bought it. I like them both, but prefer the curved lines and added room of the 302. I really like the 302 with the wind screen.

The 302 got the vote from my wife , this was due to the extra freeboard and cockpit space. It also has shore power and a charger. I also like 29 fever i liked the windscreen look over the windshield. ( See Avatar)
The only problem so far , my wife is 5.2 she cant see over the screen when she sits in the bolsters. I need to get cushion made for her. She can just drive it with the bolster down and standing on her tip toes

PM me I can send you some pics. I havent joined yet or i would put them on here.

Don't laugh,

I have to sit on my throwable when sitting down no-waking... It's definately got freeboard.
