Trailer Suggestions Please
Hurricane Isabel has led me to believe that I need a trailer. It's an '03 33 ft. Outlaw. I don't need to dunk it as the boat sits on a lift. Just need a trailer to take the boat for winter storage and in case of emergencies. Any suggestions and price ranges? TIA, Ric

Eagle makes good trailers.
MAKE SURE YOU GET METAL FENDERS. Mine are fiberglass and I blew a tire and it shreded the fender, but the worst part was that the fender dissolved and the tire beat the hell outta my boat. Yes, a metal fender would have been all bent to hell, but atleast the boat would not have been. I am putting some alum star plate or something over the top of the fenders....I'm p retty peeved about teh whole thing. Easily fixable, but just never should have happened. My .02 |
If I was going to buy a new trailer it would be a Myco. That is what Dock Holiday has his 36 Outlaw on and he loves it.

Where do you get replacement fenders? Mine dont have the support between the wheels, and people stand on them and they are all bent up now. Cant seem to find where new ones are. Eagle trailer. thanks Jason |
TO BAJA RUNNER. GO ON EAGLES WEBSITE. GIVE THEM A CALL , THEY ARE IN RIVERVIEW, MICHIGAN. ALL THEY NEED IS YOUR TRAILERS SERIAL NUMBER AND THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SEND THEM OUT, PAINTED OR UNPAINTED. NOT CHEAP THOUGH.....

Any opinions on nextrailofamerica or towmaster trailers. The prices are amazing. TIA, Ric

I just got a quote on a triple axle loadrite of $4,564. Any opinions on the make & price?
|
For what you are going to use it for, get a loadrite or something like it. My dad's boat is either stored or in water and he puts maybe 20 miles a year on it to the and back. Just make sure you get one where the transom is supported by the bunks. If you think you're going to start towing it alot get an Eagle or Myco.

If you ever dip it in salt water your going to want aluminum. I have a triple axle Fastload with flush attachments on the brake drums. I can't compare it to any other aluminum trailer for this one is my first.
Good Luck! |

carlisles
Just curious as to why you mentioned carlisles?? I trailered to Milwaukee for the apba races in August and blew 3 carlisles and two more had huge bumps in the corner of the treads. The tire dealer told me they were carrying too much weight although the trailer is a triple axle and had less than a thousand miles on it and less than two years old!!!
Pissed in minnesota |
Carlisle makes about 90% of the trailer tires, they go under a lot of different names.
|
As Steelware said I run a Myco. But for your needs that would be way overkill. The Myco for the 36 with nice 16 inch wheels, Goodyear tires, disc brakes, spare tire, etc was $9000.00.
I would go with a nice Alumium trailer like South Florida, Fast Load and Load Master. If you were trailering a lot, there is nothing better than Myco. I have had Tennessee Trailers, Eagle, Fast Load and two Myco's. I can tell you from experience that trailering with a Myco is a world of difference. It pulls like a dream, the boat is fully supported, loading and unloading of the 36 can be done by myself, it is very easy with two people. The boat is always on the trailer in the correct position with no extra effort. Currently I have over 16,000 miles on mine and not one single problem. I plan to replace all the bearings & seals, brake pads and recarpet the bunks next month. The highways are very rough and I don't think there is a better way to protect your investment than with a really good trailer. Knock on wood, I have not even had the first leak in a tire. The Myco came stock with Goodyear's and still look like new. Good luck |
Doc---
How was your eagle. I have one and it works great under a 27' baja |
i have a nextrail, out of ohio, on my 36 outlaw. nice aluminum trailer, needed to mess with the bunks a little when i first got it . not all custom like the eagles or myco's but dont think you need that. i trailer mine everywhere, sits right on the trailer every time. i needed one quick and they built it and delivered in a week. if you want number, let me know.
scott |
Hey Scott, I spoke w/ a nextrail but they were out of Fla.? I was quoted $4500 and delivery in 2 weeks.
Dock, spoke w/ the guys at Myco and they also said that for my purpose, Myco is overkill. |
Originally posted by BajaRunner Doc--- How was your eagle. I have one and it works great under a 27' baja I have just found that the Myco is MUCH heavier built when compared to Eagle. With 12,000 pounds of boat and trailer at 70+ MPH on todays highways I want the best out there. We cover a lot of miles and the big 16 inch wheels and tires are a major plus also. Nothing wrong with Eagle at all, a friend also has one under a 232 Baja and loves it. For my needs I feel Myco is better. |
Doc--
got any good pics of the framework? |

After researching the issue extensively, I just ordered one from Nextrail out of Florida. It's a 3x axle w/ brakes on the 1st axle, delivered w/in 2 weeks to NJ for $4155.

Myco is surly the best if you can shell out the change for one, I have olny owned 2 trilers that I liked one was an EAGLE and the other a CHARIOT aluminum I beam which was awesome,. Let me know hoa the next trail looks and post some pics when you get it, I have thought about one of these, the local ones here made in Lewisville are junk and almost all boats around here come with one unless you special order something else
|
Come on now, liquid, admit it! You also owned a Roadmaster for a short time. Haven't forgotten it already, have you?

I haven't forgotten it yet, that one was OK, but it did have my favorite boat on it, that I really miss, but the 29 I am contempating has a Roadrunner, which are the ones built in Lewisville, it needs a lot of work. Was the 25 on a roadmaster or roadrunner, I can't remember. The Roadmasters are also made locally her in Haltom city. My dad's boat sits on one of those, with no problems, and its a 1994. How are you and your wife liking the 25? Is your season over yey? How bout those headers, Have you had any trouble about noise? If you've done any upgrades I would like to see pics, I really miss that boat, and have yet to find a replacement. I am still looking at the 29 and am also looking at a 1995 32 caliber, here is the 29 I ran on the 20th at the Travis Poker Run

where have i seen that boat from
it looks really familiar |
Liquid
Youve got to get a pic of mine next time. I want a running shot :( |
Liquid,
That 29 was a good looking boat. As for the Roadrunner trailer, I have a triple axle under my 342. I'm eating tires BAD. The driver side front and passenger rear last about 2 trips to Austin and the inside tread is GONE. I took it to a trailer repair shop here in Tyler and they didn't find anything specifically wrong with it. If I don't rotate the tires to the center position after every trip, I will burn through them in 1000 miles. It sucks! :hothead: I'll need to replace them all before next April's Baja run on Travis. Bruce... |
We'll have to plan it, where I don't forget, I have a one tract mind at the Poker Runs, I'm trying to pass as many as possible and that is a good boat to do it with, BTW good running shot I appreciate it. We should try to get them to charge more per hand and get a photo helicoptor, what do you think, there are always 80 to 100 Baja's at this run that should be plenty of air shot sales
|
Ive called boatpix.com to come out, but they never will. They did come to one of the lake travis powerboat ass. runs, but lost my pic :hothead:
When it gets closer to april, lets talk to them and get them to come. I would definately pay more to get a heli shot |
bruce
that sucks. Ive got an eagle, and it just started wearing on the tires, probably has 5,000 miles on the tires. And i think the only reason they are wearing is my bearings need to be repacked. |

Bruce... That may be worth the trip to the Roadrunner factory in Lewisville, they are on buss. 121just east of 35, I can get contact info if you need it, I know you were "roughing it" in that 342 with the gen and air, my buddies in the 33 thought you may have 500's they swore you were doing 70 I told them what you said your gps was and they could not beleive it, Thats one classy ride, one of my favorite models |
Liquid,
I just gotta quit drinkin' for breakfast! It is a RoadRunner. Excuse the mistake. I ran the boat yesterday for a few hours. Beautiful day, I was the only boat on the lake except for two blowboats and a few fishing rigs along the banks. the water was great-smoothest I've ever seen on this lake. the boat ran great. I haven't had any problems at all with the pipes. In fact, most people tell me how great it sounds! Received a few dirty looks around the marinas, though. I've already bought some goodies to dress it up this winter, like red anodized vents, handles, and cup holders. Would like to find some Baja carpet for the cockpit. I am changing some graphics around to jass it up a little, gonna powdercoat the swim platform in red, etc. Going to winterize thursday nite, and that's it for this year. |
Can't wait to see your winter project pics
|
Liquid,
I've been to Roadrunner. I met the guy I was buying the boat from there, before we did the water test. I bought a spare tire/wheel and bearing buddy from them. When I had the Outlaw, it was on an Eagle trailer. Never any issues in the 3 years I owned it. I am pretty anal though when it comes to the mechanicals. I changed all of the wheel cylinders the last year I owned it because they were leaking and I always had the bearings re-packed at the beginning of the season. Then I pump up the buddies before every trip. My 342 has 502 mags and labbed props. We were running 66+ all day long on Travis. That's with 6 adults, 186 gal of fuel and a s#it load of beer, etc. I was at the LTPBA poker run 2 years ago when BoatPix was there. I sent for the aerials of my boat, but ended up sending them all back because I didn't like any of them well enough to spend the $350 each. Hope they show up next year though. Bruce... |
Bruce
I was in the same one. They lost my pics. |
The guys at Nextrail are awesome. I ordered the trailer on Monday, 10/6, and rec'd a call this a.m. askling if it's OK to deliver on Tues. 10/14. Now that's what I call service. I'll post upon receipt.
