Default 40 outlaw

does anyone have any knowledge of the 40 outlaw. looking at one for the lake of the ozarks with twin 575's. will they handle that rough water. how does it compare to 42 fountain or 38 formula. are575's good motor and are there any upgrades in performance to them.

I like the 40 a lot, I think a super chiller adds 50- 100 horsepower, I just like the cockpit and cabin room in the bigger outlaws, however if I had my choice it would be the formula 382 fastech with 525 efi's, in my opinion there is not enough more hp for superchargers on the 575's , I would rather have either stock 525's or whippled 525's

I haven't been in one but have been in a 42 beeker and a 38 formula. I believe all three will handle huge water with a comfortable ride. The fountain will be the fastest w/comparable power, but will have the smallest cockpit area and cabin. The formula has a nice cabin and cockpit and decent performance although it has considerable bow rise on take offs and you lose the horizon for quite a while as it is slow to plane off. The outlaw will have the most cockpit area of the three which I think makes it the party boat you need at loto!! I've heard good things about the 575's and the super chillers adding some good horsepower. That being said they are blower motors and require higher octane fuel and more maintenance. Any of the three would be nice but the outlaw gets my vote.

another thing to think about is any 40 foot boat is heavy and with the 575's you are pushing the stock drives to the max, they might not last a long time before you have to do some upgrades on them
