yea but when I register it in Louisiana for insurance I would have to pay Louisianas state tax.
well yea?
I did say that would be the case on last post. No way around it thats a given.

That's the great thing about buying a used boat. Buy from an individual and pay no taxes.
NOT in Oklahoma you have to pay...SUX!
In Indy it doesn't matter who you buy it from. To register the boat in IN you have to pay sales tax. They require a copy of a bill of sale so they know how much to charge.
Yea, I think that is the way it is here also. Ive never bought from out of state, But either way sales tax or no sales tax, a better deal is a better deal.

In Louisiana on a USED boat you only pay tax on the TRAILER!! When the guy there who bought my 2001 272 the bank called me and asked what the trailer coat i told them $3000 and they said they needed to know because that is all you pay taxes on in LA. NOT THE BOAT!! ONLY the trailer!! So in LA. you got it good when you buy USED!!!

Thanks alot. This sure does help. Are you still able to get a loan IE. 10-15 years or are there restrictions due to it being a used boat?
