I know what you mean. I when the blower route obviously but kept it simple. Kept a mild cam for docking was the key for me.

The reason I have an "extra" is that I blew one after about 100 hours. The vacuum line came off that goes to the power valves.

Now I have boost gauges and pyros and engines are now 509 based.

Rebuilt the "extra" engine for a project boat but lost interest.

I liked my 385's but found them cost prohibitive to upgrade. First step was always exhaust and hydraulic steering. Then you had to pay $400 to shot for an ECU program if you changed the cam etc.
