Hey Beak

What the hell are you doing lurking around on the Baja board?

You of coarse, have a brand new 35 Beak with 500HP’s. (I must be in the wrong profession) I think a 35 Fountain with 500HP’s should be illegal in the hands of a guy like you!!

At any rate, I plan on spending more time this year over on your
side of the river. I’ve heard that over on your side is where all the Boy-Racers Run!! Over here where I live is where all the real-boaters live.

As far as me punching-out - it's the boy racers in the single engine Fountains that are easy targets. You have guys who buy a 27 then he gets out in this slop and realizes he only has a 24’ boat!! You have guys who buy a 29 then realizes he only has a 26’ boat!!

TOO MUCH BEAK – NOT ENOUGH BOAT

Anyway - I’m happy with the fact that I have a bone-stock Baja that can threaten the 80mph barrier.

Third weekend in April – Opening of the Tiki Bar. Me and many others will have slips down at Harbor Sounds (right next to the Tike Bar)

With 3 people, 1/2 tank of gas, and 0.4 hours on the motor it ran 64 on GPS today at 4800 RPM. I didn't play with the trim a whole lot either. I would think that with 1-2 people and 1/4 tank of gas 66 would be possible once the motor breaks in.

I have a 87 240 sport ( same hull as 24 outlaw) with a 510 440hp & we do 65 light fuel good day.

Comparing a 24 to a 25 Outlaw is like comparing apples and oranges. CFD5's boat consistantly sees 68 on GPS. Allan4 who will probably jump on this thread has a 24 and it is a completely different boat, he will agree.

Baja told me 24 and 25 were basicly the same hull except the 25 is 1 foot longer and 250lbs. heavier

CFD5 02-17-2002 08:14 PM

I don't know the exact difference between the two but there is a difference. Like griff said he has a 24 w/ 420HP and it does "64 on a good day". I have a 25 w/425HP and easily see 68-70 so obviously there is something diffferent about the two. I have run side by side with allan4 and our boats handle the rough totaly different. Not to say the 24 is bad, allan4's boat is awesome and it flies with the best of them but they are two different hulls. Allan4, where are you when we need you!!

I have a 1997 24 outlaw sst with a 415 hp 502 mag mpi with trim tabs and capt.call with 125 hours turning a bravo 26 at 68mph@4550 rpm,my prop is being labbed by bronson hill,expecting 70-72 mph @4900

I would like to know the difference between the 24-25 besides the 1 foot. It might be the pad on the bottom I'm not sure. I do know that the 24 needs a ton of power to go fast. Originally I had around 420-450hp and was running about 64-65mph on gps with full fuel and 2 people. Last year had I'm guessing around 650hp and ran the best of 78 on gps with full fuel and 2 people. Also was on the rev. chip at 5600rpm. This year putting more motor in it maybe around 700+hp moving to a 30" prop stripping the bottom paint off and hopeing to see low 80's. I think the 24 is a real handfull when speeds get up into the 70's but I like the boat it's a fun ride.

If I can remember correctly, my 24 outlaw did not have a notch in the hull where as the 25 does. I don't think there is any other difference in the hulls? Talking to people it sounds like the 25 is a couple miles per hour faster given the same power.

29Fever 02-20-2002 09:59 AM

With equal power, the 25 is faster. There is something about the hull. The 24' seems to hit a brick wall in the high 60mph range. Fountain's 27' and 29' works almost the same way. The 27' is no faster than the 29' with equal power.
