SteelWare SMOKES a .......
Fountain!
Just got back from our fifth annual Easter weekend at Charleston, SC.
Many thanks to our good friends Mr. & Mrs. Steelware who brought their 33 Outlaw down for the weekend.
The weather was very nice both Friday & Saturday and we loaded the boat up Saturday night before dinner and it was a good thing. The storms hit Saturday night and it poured down!
While coming out of Shem Creek after a nice lunch Saturday at RB's we met a Red 29 Fountain coming into the channel. There were three on board and I waved at them, but did not get a single wave back. No problem, we went about our way enjoying the nice 78 degrees and sunshine. Rode up to Isle of Palms, then headed out into the ocean for about thirty minutes before heading up the Ashley River.
Well here they come behind us in the river. We are in a no wake zone and they are plowing hard to catch up. The driver was wearing a white captains hat and they all looked like a bunch of ***s. We had about 3-4 miles to go before the 526 bridge and they indicated that they wanted to race.
Jeff and I both just blew them off, but as they came on plane, we changed our minds. They had a 15 to 20 second jump on us and had the 29 trimed out throwing a rooster tail. Jeff got on plane and the 500's were singing! I saw 80 on the GPS before you knew it and we were gaining on them. We came into a very tight area and they cut us off from passing on their starboard side. Jeff backed off, crossed their wake and we were coming up strong on their port side.
The driver was pushing the trottles to the wood on the Fountain but we were gaining very fast and caught him and passed him.
The Fountain wanted to race, and Jeff smoked him! I have no idea what they had in it. Definately not a 500 ot greater because I have driven some with 500's and they are faster.
When we came off plane at the 526 bridge they would not even come up close to us.
Oh well, what a nice way to end a very nice day!
Jeff, you have a SUPER AWESOME boat!
