The boat that I am ruuning now is a Renegade CC 29' with 250 Merc Efi's, it's a slpash of the old 28 signature hull streched an extra 1'. Deep V with no pad..old school. my last boat was a 24 Outlaw with 600hp (HP 500) motor, best handling & speed was with Revolution 4 blade prop. Recomended by Allan 4, he was racing his 24 with this prop & doing very well. The 4th blade helped give it stern lift. What I am trying to get across is try everything you can get your hands on. I was running a 25 Mirage labbed & it ran good, switched to 23" Revolution prop , better holeshot & mid range & it got the boat above the water, less resistance & I gained a couple mph on topend. Similar RPM.
With regard to my present boat, manuf. & other owners said 25" Mirages, tested everything that Throttle Up had available with Hydromotive guys, ended up dropping to a 24 blade Quad 4 prop & hitting the Rev limiters.1000% better all around. My cruise speed went up as well which is where I spend 75% of my time. Now some just fine tuning. The Renegade factory said that the fastest they had seen this hull run was 68mph empty, we hit 68 with no effort with 4 blades & should see 70 + as 1 motor was lagging 300 rpm behind due to a bad spark plug. Props can be a black science :D

I would agree in most cases except this one, there is no way a 32 caliber is gonna go any faster than 71 with 502's on gps all stock, do the math, my boat was hanging right with my buddys 02 33 with ho's and labbed 26's with the raised X, the hydromotives are a totally different story from bravos and also don't work well on a 33 or 29, you really have to just test each individual boat for your preferences, when my 29 gets here your more than welcom to try my mirage 25's if u pay shipping and get them back to me fairly quick, BTW on 33's and 29's from 02 and up, you have no choice but 4 blades , bcuz of the raised X, but my 32 was definatly at its sweet spot with the Hydro Q4's 24"

Well I took your advise Liquid and bought the Hydros, they are marked as 25 pitch but the guy I bought them from said that one had a different rpm and that he sent them back to the factory and had them both re-pitched to 24's, so i guess I'll find out in another month or two or three !! I hate the weather in this state !(Wisconsin)

More blades = less prop slippage. Our last customer tried a Hydro on his Y2K with a 496. Went from 74 to 76 GPS. The extra blade helped. Next is the 6 blade !!!

BAJA36, I tend to have to agree with you, LiquidAsset said his ran about 71 with 24 hydros, so 24 hydros it is ! Did you run the props "in" when you had them on with the 454's or just with the 540's ?
