Top,
What Jack plate do you prefer with the V8 outboard set-up...i currently have the Land and Sea Hydrualic that I bought the boat with..What are you guys using in the new boats..I was looking to buy the TH marine Hydraulic..Should I purchase the 6,8 or 10 inch set-back.. Thanks, Joe Do you have trim tabs? |
Airdog,
Yes, I do have tabs.....You mean 17 inch setback.. |
Who sells the jack plate that you are reffering to?
joe |
Yes, 17" of setback.
I ran a porta-products, scissor jack. They cost around $2500 new if I remember right. A lot for a jack plate, but it is also a bracket and you can get a swim platform on top of it as well. With a 20" shaft on my V8 I could jack it dangerously high. When I needed to work on the engine out at sea, which unfortunately was often, I could jack it all the way up and tilt it into the boat so I could change plugs while in the cockpit....That was cool. |
Airdog,
I'm starting to lean towards the BOB's Machine shop 12inch Hydraulic...Seems to be a good product and alot of guys like them...1k...Anyways, I'll be running a V8 Evinrude, they tend to never break down..:drink: Thanks, Joe:coolcowboy: |

Airdog,
Yes, I see what you mean about the setback....I will do more research and go from there...That outboard looks mean and nasty.....Is it a 20 inch mid? ....Mine is a 25, should i try and find a 20..What do you think?I think there is a guy In Florida that works on these things...(Monty Racing), I am not familiar with them but everybody says they know there stuff with these motors... Thanks, Joe |
