A couple of questions for you Banana people
I bought a 24' banana 1986 out of Rhode Island from the mfg that took it from charlie. The boat supposedly was owned by the owner of the company.
1. How many gallons of gas was the standard amount. My boat has a 50 in the rear and 60 up front.
2. Where can i find the head lights for the front of the boat?
3. The boat has Mercury racing trim tabs on it that supposedly cost a fortune. Anyone know if that was a standard issue?
The boat was in inside storage for 4 years. i bought it without the motors running. Happily a friend of mine who is an expert on the old mercs ( has 2 - 200's) changed the water pumps and misc parts and they fired right up and run great. The more i get into to it the happier i am.
Can't wait to get out and play

What exactly does that mean?

Charlie, I thought that you sold the company in 1980 and a new owner took it over. I wish the boat was one that you made but not much that I can do.
My apologies if I offended you in anyway.

When you say "tank in back" - do u mean behind the cockpit or under it? Front tank is where?
And yes the 380S tabs are $$. Pictures please?

The rear tank is behind the seat and the front tank has a hatch in the floor in the cockpit area
I haven't figured out how to down load pics yet but if you go on my web site you will see the boat. i just put a nice Load Rite trailer under it and it sits perfect. I am going to use it for a year and if I love it i will rebuild it from ground up.I will get more pics as soon as i figure it out
Neil
Any info on the head lights
Thanks, Neil

Call Port Edgewood and ask for Ray. He would know about the front lights. We never put any of that stuff....side cabin ports, cleats on the side of the boat, etc etc..... on our boats.
Before you give up hope on the tabs....measure them and see how long they are. The real long ones are the most expensive. As far as "standard".....I don't think those guys had a standard, they put on whatever was in the shop or nearby.
Get someone to check for moisture in the transom and bulkheads. I know that boat sat for a long time inside, but make sure those items are moisture free before you start jumping waves.
Goood luck with the resto. You can make it into something very nice.

call ray, he is a really nice guy, he will give you great advice and make sure you are taken care of like when he asked me to take my boat out of the marina at the end of the season and I told him on that friday that I would have a truck move it on Monday.. he told me no problem then he had my boat towed to the main road and left it there with all my gear on board...... gee I would love to get info from him...... my point is what ever he tells you; nod you head and call charlie and ask him.... Charlie will give you the straight answer... See I can speak my mind... I am only a consumer who purchased a 1990 Banana and sold it as it cannot compare to my 2008 Banana built by Charlie and Charile JR... thanks guys.... Oh by the way Charlie you have to see the new Banana Boat Jackets that jsut came in.... we will look good at the poker runs this season..
