Re: fastest banana setups?
So you think that with some different chine and strake placement even our 24's could achieve much better speeds and stability? And who from or where could I find information on what different placements do. Just wondering as I hopefully plan on regelling the hull in about two years or so.
Thanks Charlie.
p.s. what is your theory on outboard setback. figuring on a 300 Evinrude V8 which weighs in at around 540lbs.

You can't just add things on a boat like strakes and chines....everything has to work together in a smooth flow....when they do..... you get a boat that is magic to drive.
You all have experienced that with your 24's now....but what is happening is that the boat design is being pushed into areas that were never concieved 30 years ago.
An unnamed boat mfgr tried to just add on in some places, and he developed a boat with severe handling problems that slammed everybody on reentry after flying.
The same with set back....there are at least as many questions as answers every time you change something like this.
What type of prop?
Will it be able to handle more aeration and work in thinner water?
Will the motor be on a jack plate?
Where was the original center of gravity on the boat?
Where does this move it to now?
The people who take the time to get these answers are the ones who develop boat designs that are classic.
Cubic inches and horsepower do not solve all problems.
