hey Evan,
not going to be able to make it to the poker run
saw the post and wife and i started planing for it. then we took the boat out today... long story, the short version is one of the twins died today and not really sure why.... burnt piston is best guess but ill be ripping it apart next weekend down in medford with my father in-law... but it just might become a big single... anyway more to come later still pissed about the motor...
and if anyone knows are the stringers in the outboard boats the same as the i/o boats as this swap is also running through my mind
thanks ron h

Ron,
Wow, that sucks...
The power heads on that boat were rebuilt not that long ago, plus they are stock.
Did you have bad gas or loose the oil injection?
Well, if it helps any, I had one of your engines. Same thing and I ran it on my Banana for the last 5 years.
It will go 55mph all day and perform well.
Maybe you could do that until you get the other one re-done, or just keep it a single and have a spare engine?
The only thing you would need is a Hynautic K-10 or Sea Star 5345 front mount cylinder. You could run the Hynautic K-12's that you currently have, but you would need a wing plate with dual attach points.
It is worth it to go with the single ram. It would cut the amount of turns you would have to make on the wheel in half, which is nicer, especially when docking...
As for switching to an I/O? I want to do that as well someday. Outboard stringers are farther apart though, so you would have to build a second set between your current ones. I think they must be like 34" or something like that?
If you do that though you will have to fill in the motor well, and push your seat up a bit.
Hope that helped...
Here is a pic of your boat.
