Not for nothing but a professional con man will sell ice cubes to eskimos. People believed in him just as he wanted. For the members that defended him I feel it is not thier fault and should not be ridiculed for that.
Recently I had dealings with a career con man in my business and feel like a total d*ck for falling into that situation. It is only a matter of time when chit catches up. In my case it was only a week. As the old saying goes "when you lie you have too much to remember". Although I or the company lost nothing but we did learned a valuable lesson.
In the case of flippin Fred we here learned our lesson.
As RHR would say "rock on"

That is why I compared it to the BS case. He was a conman as well, except when that happened, Fred, especially jumped all over peoples back who had anything to do with it, and bouyhunter was involved as well and many others. Thats why I say the shoe is on the other foot and why everything was done to put the heat on BS to get the money back, because we were supposivly "friends" with BS. I want to know, what are Freds "friends" now doing to help people get the money back? You know the ones that jumped are asses when the BS thing went down. Now is your time to shine and quit being cheerleaders and help your oso members out.

Should I keep that hush hush now that it is found out he is a fraud? Con artist con; it is what they do.

Sorry for your and anyone else's loss, however that doesn't make my dealing with him bad and don't feel your loss is my fault by any means....

I suppose the same can be said for the fellow who bought from Fred based on the cheerleaders opinions, without ANY knowledge of who these cheerleader guys actually were.....

Your logic is ridiculously flawed.

The only one who's responsible is Fred.

And by the way, post deletions aren't member dictated, they're from higher up, and usually at the insistence of Fred himself.

I suppose to some degree you're right. But here's the thing...and you said it yourself. The posts were deleted by the site itself. Now, I don't know anybody personally here on OSO. However, I have learned a great deal about boating and engines, etc. I have great respect for the contributing members here, and the site itself. Because of that respect, when the negative posts about Fred were deleted, I assumed that the negativity was bogus. And, gave Trick much credibility in my mind. If the site itself, (OSO) which I trust, removed COUNTLESS negative threads about Trick, there has to be just some disgruntled customers, right? Well, my point is that the negative posts should remain forever, and a vendor who has nothing to hide should laugh off a few nutjob customers who complain, if that's the case.

Ultimately, you're right about the fault being Fred's and only Fred's. I apologize to those who took offense to my post. In the future, like in the BT thread, I hope the posts remain in place forever. If that thread gets deleted, because of pressure from the manufacturer, or people who just love their product, some poor guy who may be on the fence about buying said product may never get the knowledge of what is truly happening. And that would be bad, in my opinion.

Cigdaze, one last thing. Midnight Rider just posted this on the other Trick Real Estate thread. If the first negative posts about Trick were never deleted, many people including me would have never ordered and been screwed by Fred.

I am glad this came out when it did. I almost ordered my Gaffrig shifters from trick. They were cheap, cheaper than Gaffrig itself. But I remember seeing that in my head, "what's up with trick marine?" post. I just decided to spend more money and go to the source. Ordered them Friday, had them Monday, angle I wanted, trim switch, red in color. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I can agree with all of what you said this time around. I, too, wish that negative posts would have remained available to the membership. We need to see the good with the bad to make informed decisions.
