if it was sold on lein, the last registered owner was notified/attempted. when no reponse was recieved (consituting a good faith attempt to satisfy) the boat was sold (in most cases lien sales are usually auctions). if someone bought it on lein, it's now legally theirs. End of story. even if you did find it, the legal fee's to attempt to get i back would far exceed the value of the boat and being locked up if and when it was lien saled would still be basically considered abandonment. At least thats the way it worked on cars when I worked at a tow yard.

It's a sad state of things when a crook can't trust another crook....:hitfan:

A. Boat probably isn't worth much if not stored properly.
B. Cost to fix it back up/restore it is probably more than it is worth especially if you owe back storage on it.
C. The 49K you spent years ago can buy you a much nicer boat today than it did then.
D. So if you don't have any spare coin now, having the boat back won't help your case since it probably needs thousands in work to get it ready for the water.

You are setting yourself up to be more aggravated when you find it has been sold legally (storage/mechanic's lien) and the new owner doesn't want to hear anything from you.

Good luck, sorry you lost your boat but look at the bigger picture.
