You basically own the rights to use a name, like Offshoreonly.com. And all that does is point people to a website you have hosted somewhere. If you do not renew the domain name, someone else can purchase those rights, build up a new site, and then sell the domain rights to someone else. Or you can simply buy the rights and then try to sell them to the legitimate owner of a site. That was one of the original scandals here, someone bought offshoreonly.net and org I think and then tried to sell them to Steve S. And then it got really good after that 
Got one many years ago still own it just curious had a few attorneys involved they split up never finished the concept!
If I had more time I'd put a deal together for the right $$!

While a little research would truly clarify, one has to wonder if someone is just posting one word per post every 30 seconds just to show some activity. Otherwise, it is basically an expensive public message board between some gay lovers 
Are you kidding me? What kind of fool would invest that each month in such a low-activity board. Who is their financial advisor (he/she sucks).
One final question, do the thread and post stats include private conversations behind the "VIP" wall? If that is what they are basically using the site for, surely they could find a more cost-effective means to communicate online. But then ,w hen has CS been frugal about other people's money.

Has changed names a few times but has always sucked. Posted at one of them for a little while but couldn't get past the obnoxious owner.

LOL...in reality, actual costs aren't 5% of that. But that's just one of the lies that we endured. Anyone who would throw that kind of number around and expect even semi-intelligent people to believe it, has to be one seriously delusional individual.

Kind of surprises me that IB didn't keep a hold of that one, but I know the laws have changed and most "squatting" on names or using similar names is actionable. Of course if you were based in Antigua or something.....

Yeah, truly a shame it got dumped in his lap when it was already in such disarray. And that puts him in a kit bag because I'm sure he doesn't want to be the guy that shuts down SO. There would be a small group that would probably be quite upset with him.
