The internet is loaded with all the info any crook ever needs to find and steal what ever they want.
Google street views show boats and trucks in driveways. All the crook has to do is follow his GPS to your door, watch the coming and going pattern and move when the time is right.
Search hot wiring or lock picking or how to steal a car on google.

Hey, not trying to sell anything here. I have installed over a hundred of these on government vehicles------they work. This is a professional product. Not the chinese crap sold at your local stereo shop or on some basement internet site.

Someone stealing a boat is not wanting it for a joy ride. they are not just walking by and see your keys in the ign and make a snap decision to take it. They have spotted it, staked it out, cased it and brought all the needed tools to take it. You don't hear of many boats being taken on the water. Mostly on trailers, in the night. These are well planned thefts, not random. most are sold before they are stolen, in parts. The thieves are filling out their shopping lists, not stealing then trying to sell the stolen parts. How would you find those big yellow stolen engines? Under the hatches of a random boat they could be sitting right next to you. If they want it, it's gone! Best thing you can do is make sure that your insurance co. is reputable, your coverage is enough to cover a total loss and your premium is paid on time.

When I was working at the marina I had a "master key"... All I had to do was stick the key in, wiggle it around a bunch of times while turning and bingo, ignition!

It worked in I'd say 90% percent of the boats with standard keyed ignitions.
