I had something similar happen to me back in 2006. I bought a boat sight unseen in Illinois (I had it surveyed and it came back clean as a whistle). So I paid the dealer for the boat and he offered to store the boat for the winter for $500. So I didnt have the boat and waited for the titles to be sent but they never arrived. Same song and dance as the OP--traveling, out of town, out of the office..Finally I get the story that the titles have been lost and they have requested new titles from DMV. After 3 months of getting the runaround I too called DMV in Indiana (where the boat was registered) and they said that they never had a request for replacement titles. I decided to call the registered owner (consignment boat) and the owner tells me his boat is still for sale!! I was like, "umm, no...I paid for the boat in full over 90 days ago". The owner was pissed!! We both contacted the dealer and threatened to go to the police if I didnt get my titles and if he didnt get his money. Apparently, the dealer figured he had the perfect situation--an out of town buyer who didnt pick up the boat and decided to use the proceeds of the sale to finance his wintertime operating expenses!!
Once we threated to go to the police he asked for 7 days to get the money together. We gave him the time and he did come thru. I flew out to Chicago on the 7th day and picked up my boat. Ridiculous situation but things like this do happen.

That sucks, Tony. Sorry about the troubles, but at least it eventually worked out for you. Good thing you kept pressure on him, as it sounds like he was about ready to cut and run and say to heck with both you and the bank. Next time you need something in Tampa, you let me know, I'll be glad to help if needed.

As a car dealer, when you are out of trust with your floorplan lender they have a uniform UCC filing and will take EVERYTHING in your dealership down to the paperclips in the office to settle the debt, if you sell anything at that point the transaction is to take place at the bank, just to be sure you are not selling everything to your buddies cheap to screw them even more, you are VERY lucky you got those titles that fast, it can take forever in most cases, but dealers are bonded as long as you are in the front of the line when every one else shows up to get their money back your are good.

Dave, I'm trying to get rid of some boats, the wife says I'm only allowed to have 5 at a time. Wanna buy a small center console or two? The one that this thread is about is a 33 Donzi CC. Same boat as the one I talked to you about a few months ago only this one is much newer and in way better shape. I don't have any pics on this computer.
