anyone ever heard of beavboats.com? i saw a boat on his site that i was intersted in.sent him an email asking several questions.where is the boat located?fresh water or salty boat?engine hours?

first email i get back is puter genarated without answering questions.

i email again. thanks for the email but can you answer my questions?

his responce: "salt"

hmmm , okkkkkkk. still didnt answer my other quetions.

i send another email "repeating my original questions" and also ask if i can get the owners email addy so i can talk to him.

his response: "no"

god help the guy that contracted with beavboats.com to sell his boat.

im sure brokers get alot of emails from people wanting information that are just tire kickers but isnt that just part of doing business? this guy acts like im bothering him and he's in the business of f@#%ing selling boats.what a jerk.

ROUGHSTUFF 07-09-2002 10:37 PM

Sounds like the guy is really interested in selling a boat?? He must have more business than he knows what to do with!!

puder 07-10-2002 12:00 AM

what did you expect with a name like beavboats????

Lake Front 07-10-2002 08:49 AM

That is not an uncommon response from marina's listing on the internet. I've had several similiar experiances (but there are a "few" good ones).

If they do not want to make adequate and informative responses to questions, either drop the e-mail address and eliminate the website, or step up and spend a little time providing the proper response. This doesn't mean that they have to respond immediately, but they need to respond within a week with accurate information. People are willing to travel for the right boat, but you can not travel to see everyone.

The internet and e-mail is a quick and fast way to narrow down a search on boats, but non-responsive marinas/brokers/private sellers can really put a sour note on looking for a boat.

Keep this in mind, and people might sell their boats quicker. For the most part, the buyer is doing the seller a favor, not the otherway around.

jb 07-10-2002 10:17 AM

I emailed him to let him know he is getting bad press and to check it out. In no way did I send an antagonizing message!
This was his reply!!! He must think I am LOTOPARTY!!!

PhantomChaos 07-10-2002 10:20 AM

JB-

Did he really take the boat off the site?

mcollinstn 07-10-2002 10:27 AM

I just went to his website. Here is what I sent to him:
*******************************************

your infantile correspondence with a member of "offshore only web forum" (www.offshoreonly.com) has been posted. Here is the link:

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forum/sh...threadid=28373

You should truly reconsider your attempt to list/sell boats on the Internet if you cannot prepare an informative reply to inquiries.

rjcardinal 07-10-2002 10:38 AM

I called this guy a few months ago about a 27 Fountain he had listed. At first I emailed him wanting more information. He replied that he could only get me more information if I made an offer and I should call him. So I called him and asked him about the boat. He did not know sh*t about the boat and said he would not even call the owner unless I wrote him a check! Would anyone in their right mind make an offer and write a check for a boat looking at only a picture. This guy did not even know what engine was in the boat.

Here is a copy of my reply email to him on 3/14/02.

Sorry Gary,

Thats not the way I do business. I will not make an offer on the boat without more information. I have requested more information from you on the phone and by email. You are either unable or unwilling to provide any service to me with out a deposit and I will not do business with you.

There are fifty 27 Fevers on Boat Trader right now and we have narrowed it down to two now that the one your representing is no longer an option. We have cash in hand and will make offers tomorrow.

Thanks anyway,

Ron

This guy is a jerk, stay away. The boats he has for sale are probably not his to list anyway.

question.

**************************************

here's my reply back to him:

Have you managed to figure out how to access your Father's AOL account? That is the most immature attempt to make a logical sentence I have had the opportunity to witness. I am going to fax this to the BeavBoats office.

dockrocker 07-10-2002 02:41 PM

Wasnt' this the guy that was giving someone the run around on this 386 Sonic a while back? Same type of thing, guy can't get hold of the owner, one day the boats in Ft. Lauderdale, the next it's not, etc etc.

Very odd...

Playn 07-10-2002 02:45 PM

What an idiot.

joe900sc 07-10-2002 03:22 PM

I can't believe this thread!!!

Is anyone buying boats from this guy? I mean is he sitting around all day like the Maytag repairman wondering why he's broke or is this guy moving products out the door?

I can't believe anyone would buy from this guy!

Kohldog 07-10-2002 03:28 PM

Beaveboats is actualy a yachtworld.com website branded for that particular broker.

klmken 07-10-2002 03:33 PM

I bet his clients would like to see his responses.........I drove from DC to FL to buy my boat........

Marie Awesome 07-10-2002 03:49 PM

Makes you wonder what kind of employer would hire him. I can't believe this thread either!

jb 07-10-2002 04:05 PM

Phantom..
I am not sure. I just emailed the beav to let him know about his press on OSO. He must have thought I was LOTOPARTY sending him an email. Not sure Lotoparty ever told us the boat he inquired on. I wish there was a way to get the management from beavboats to take a look see.
His prices on his boats seemed very high to me.

I sent the beav another email stating I was just passing info on to him. I sent it requesting a return receipt. He read it but did not reply.
some people just dont get it

rjcardinal 07-10-2002 04:51 PM

I believe his name is Gary Beaver. He seems to own the place (Beavboats). Here is a copy of an email where he tries to get me to send him a check before he answers any questions about the boat. This is from March.

In all the hundreds of boats that I have sold, I have leaned
the best way to get the seller's attention and find his bottom dollar
is to try an Offer with a copy of a check and contract
all you need to do is tell me the amount you would like to try.

If you try it we get his blood pressure up and we can get the best deal. $$$$

This is all before he can tell me what engine the boat has in it or where its located! Plus about a dozen other basic questions about the condition of the boat he refused to answer.

Next you'llbe seeing wallyboats.....:)

mcollinstn 07-10-2002 05:30 PM

I was actually going to print out a bunch of this cr#p and fax it to the BeavBoats office. After hearing all of the rest of you guys' experiences with him, I'm not going to bother. P#ss on him.

The rest of you join me in adding some random reply to this thread every few days so it stays current and everybody else can see it..

Hey Ward........I'm worried about the Beav!

rjcardinal 07-10-2002 08:03 PM

mcollinstn,

Dont worry about sending anything to beavboats. This guy is beavboats. Its just a guy with a few ads on the net. I doubt the company is anything more than cell phone and a website.

Ron

http://www.yachtworld.com/listing/yw...USD&units=Feet

this is the boat i was asking about. velocity 28

i wish i could contact the owner of the boat to give him a heads up about this broker.

rjcardinal 07-10-2002 08:20 PM

Hey lotoparty,

Im in Baton Rouge and know most of the go fast crowd. Give me some time and I will find out who owns the boat. I have a boat club meeting tomorrow night and I will ask around. Also the local go fast boat shop is about a mile from my house and I know the guy that owns it. There are a few Velocity's around here but not many. When I find out I will let you know. And I will let the owner know about the beaver.

Ron

Steve_H 07-10-2002 08:36 PM

ron , i hope your successfull in finding out whos boat it is.

its a nice looking boat and it could have been sold by now if the beav was playin will a full deck.

with your effort maybe we can help the owner out here and me to cuz i like it:D

Steve H 07-11-2002 12:16 AM

I also have had the displeasure of dealing with Gary beavhead.com I was interested in a 40 magnum that was located in D.C. It was impossible to get any good pictures. He did not know many details either. He absolutley refused to let me talk to the owner. I have bought several boats thru brokers over the years. I would never try to dick them out of their commision. But if they don't have the answers to my questions then they should let me talk to someone who does. I really wanted to make an offer on that boat, but there is no way I am going to put down 10% on a $100,000+ boat with out being very well informed on my purchase. Besides, he sounds like a shady used car salesman on the phone.

Now when I see a boat advertised by beavboats.com I see a boat that will not be purchased by me or mine.

jb 07-11-2002 07:23 AM

powerful stuff here

georges 07-11-2002 09:41 AM

The "beaver's" address is nothing but rundown cheap motels and t-shirt shops one block behind hollywood beach:rolleyes:

jmeng 07-11-2002 09:43 AM

This boat has been for sale for over a year. The owner used to have his own website and had it listed on there. Don't remember the guys name but it wasn't anyone I knew.

rjcardinal 07-11-2002 03:25 PM

I bought the local Boat for sale mag today and this boat is not listed. Its not on Boat Trader either. I am going to print a picture of it and show it around.

jmeng is from Baton Rouge also. He was one of the people I was going ask about the boat. Ive seen a couple of Velocitys parked at the local go fast shop around the corner. I will stop by tomorrow.

Yo LJ, How'd we look coming by you in Lake Ponchartrain?

Ron

jmeng 07-11-2002 05:02 PM

Didn't look to bad for a Fountain :D Seriously the boat looks great. Never have been crazy about the windshields but they really grew on me once I saw it in person. Pictures dont do it justice. Cleanest used boat I've seen in a while. I've got the boat fever bad right now. I've gotten approval from Wendy to buy something as long as we put up a fence and she gets some more furniture first. Probably wait till this winter. Sent you an email with my new email address.

OffshoreOnly 07-11-2002 06:01 PM

this guy is very well known in South Florida. You are chasing ghost boats with no actual listings.

PhantomChaos 07-11-2002 07:34 PM

Here is a menu of things to choose from when speaking to BeavBoats..............(flash)

dockrocker 07-11-2002 07:52 PM

I shot an e-mail to yachtworld.com and gave them a link to this thread. No response yet, but clowns like this guy reflect badly on them, even though they have no real association with the guy outside a basic web hosting arrangement (at least I assume that's the case).

glassdave 07-11-2002 09:08 PM

PhantomChaos - good one :D :D :D

rjcardinal 07-12-2002 08:29 AM

Thanks for the info Board God,

I suspected that was the case when I called a few months ago. He probably just puts a few killer deals in his listings to get people to call. In fact when I called about Fountain he tried to move me into a Scarab.

I will keep checking into this boat for lotoparty. Baton Rouge is not that large of a town and I was born and raised here. Someone I know will know about this boat if its real.

Ron

SR-24 07-12-2002 10:27 AM

You know they don't know the boat when they have it listed as a twin and it looks like a single to me!

bob_t 07-12-2002 12:22 PM

scam???

My fountain was posted on Traderonline by beavboats and it isn't even for sale - nor did I ever even talk to them! Evidently he carped a picture of my boat from one of the pictures of it that are on the internet, and posted it for sale!

RJ -if the 27 fever you inquired about had lightning graphics, it probably was mine!

I called them to get details about "my boat" and he told me that if I was interested, he would have to contact the owner. I told him that I was the owner, that I had never contracted the boat with him, nor ever even contacted him, and that it wasn't for sale, so please take it off traderonline. He hung up on me at that point. - I still see it advertised on traderonline by beavboats, from time to time!

Luv-N-It 07-12-2002 12:35 PM

bob_t,
I can't believe that he listed your boat! Maybe he can sell your Fountain for you without your perrmission and you can move up to something bigger!!!
Man, maybe some of you can continue to contact yactworld and see if you get a response out of them?
By the way, if this jerk at beavboats sells your boat and can get enough for a bigger one, let me know, count me in!!!!!!!
