I had some stolen years ago on the Rhodes river and the guys that I think were stealing them cased out the marina a couple days before. I saw them looking over everything and they saw me. about two weeks after they stole many drives i was out for a sales call and just happen to drive thru a marina in pasidena MD and i saw the same guys duck behind a wall they worked at this marina.

So where are all these drives going or ending up? You would think they would show up for "sale" some where? Buying used XR's is like russian roullette anyway, you never know how long a brand new one is going to last, much less a used one with no "real history". Just my 02.

Anywhere there is a body of water with boats on it.

Drives are low-hanging fruit for people in the 'export' biz.
Compact and self-contained, high value-to-weight ratio, easy to acquire and easier to sell.

Thought experiment:
How many could you stack inside an Escalade
inside a shipping container?

I don't think he had a lot of evidence to do anything do you? He saw them standing around two marinas, one they actually worked at? Not saying they are innocent, but what was he supposed to do?

I stop sometimes to look at boats that I think are cool or unique in my area, doesn't make me a thief.....I just love boats

I think the bottom line is if people want it they will get it and if you make yourself harder to get than most they will go after the easier target.

This don't help but its fun to think about:
One could replace some bolts with a blasting cap wired to pop on removal. Then the cops would have some DNA from a finger or two to catch the bastard.

You sound like a powderman. Hey Bro I'm with ya LOL. Unfortunatly where i live i would be the one getting charged.

If the boat is there for sale and or winter storage the drives should be removed and stored in side. Just my .02.
