Brian, You are losing customers fast with your posts on here.......
.

.

You sure did a lot of cheerleading for the OP on that thread for somebody that was not there. You also added a lot of fuel to the fire with your other stories and just like the OP never named the shop just skirted around it.

I sure hope the I lose the customers that would come on a site and wrongfully bash me and lie about the way it went down. I sure hope I lose all the customers that don't want to pay their bills. I have been lucky so far that after 35 years in business to date I have 1 that still has not paid and only 3 that took years to get paid. I do fight for whats mine and hate people that try to cheat anybody out of whats theirs.....as it should be.

This thread was a continuation of the locked thread more than anything. In my opinion it got locked prematurely as soon as the accused disputed the OP's accusations. Within 10 minutes of Dave defending himself the OP cried to have it closed while he had 2 days to defame a reputable business. I could not post my displeasure on the thread so here we are.

I got screwed by 3 all in the last 3 years.
1 still owes.
1 paid after 2 years without much trouble and I got storage and interest on my money but 2 years without my hard earned money is still a screwing.
Last 1 I got "Paid as Agreed" after 2 years when a PPO, assault charges and a law suite for the money owed was filed. I will never get what is really owed to me in this case. I was warned about this 1 but said it would not happen to me....ooooops.

Dave W is a great engine builder, but he is not perfect. There are many people with complaints about him. That's normal in business.

THERES NOTHING WRONG with someone warning fellow OSO members to protect themselves from a builder. Saber did not BASH anyone.
The only thing that went wrong on OSO is that the users are blowing the thread out of proportion. Saber has brought up a good point that us customers need to protect ourselves from shops that could hold our valuables hostage for possible incorrect charges. That's what estimates and signatures are for. Shame on Dave W for being too overbooked and lazy to use this technique.

Just to clarify, I don't believe Saber or myself are saying that nobody should go to Dave W, just that you are protected and that you have clear communication when you are dealing with him.

Last night I received a call from Offshorexcursion he apologized for what he posted and I will except it.

It's time for us to start thinking about what time of the year it is.

Marry Christmas to all

Dave Wesseldyk

Thanks Brian you are a stand up guy.

All said and done, I have heard plenty of very good things about Brian and he's not where he is today because he screws his customers. He also could write a boat buying 101 book if needed.

Actually it was 38 minutes and nobody requested that it be closed. The issue was solved between the involved parties.
I closed it so that the issue could be put behind them and not further prolonged with discussions between uninvolved parties who were not there.

Over the last 20+ years, I have had 4 bad episodes with repair facilities. One, I calmly sat down with them and explained that I realized that the job was over their abilities, we shook hands, I paid them for their time and moved on. The seconds final bill was 3x what was quoted (for an A/C recirculating pump), he couldn't diagnose the problem without sitting on my boat for 6 hours and watch the pump run. I disputed the charge, but paid the bill, never used him again. The other two, I took my lumps, paid the bill and moved on to another service facilty. You live and learn.

I have had some difficult customers over the years and have had sit down meetings with them and asked that we do not conduct business together anymore, even referring them to other competing shops. Better to have a satisfied, referred customer than an unhappy one spreading bad words. Most have respected me for this. Not all personalities get along.

No enemies, just a business understanding.
