Buy this upper outdrive I got hosed on from me.
 

Bought this from an OSO member. Stupid me bought it sight unseen. He told me he had an Alpha 1 SS upper from a 20 ft Cig. This is what I got n the mail. Now he claims it was from a 1983 233 Formula. He also says he didn't know there was a difference. Since he is on here a lot and always has lots of Speedmaster/ TRS drives and parts for sale, I thought he would know how to identify what he has and know the difference. Don't know anything about it, and I wouldn't trust any of the story that came with it. Would be good for a bed of a pickup to provide additional weight for traction in the snow, or maybe a good centerpiece for your wifes 1970's nautically themed garden

When I talked to him last, he offered a partial refund and I would have to eat the shipping both ways (originalshipping + return). My fault I've been swamped with the new model boat we just debuted and the prototype we're working on and the last time we talked was almost 2 months ago. At this point I don't want to be that guy trying to return something I bought 3 months ago.

It was misrepresented. Get your money back, shipping included. Sound to me like he should just refund the money and you throw the thing out in the trash.

Correct. R drive. Around a long, long time, lots out there still. 70s into early 80s. MR was the first square top with no lifting ring, then Alpha.

Misrepresented = refund. In this case the time elapsed is irrelevant.
I would direct the seller to this thread to "encourage" him to do the right thing.

Seller should make this right. That isn't even a nice anchor weight. Not what you wanted, and is misrepresented.

Full refund is a no brainer. You may have to compromise on shipping. BTW, I'm surprised that anyone would ship it in that flimsy box.

Regarding the member vs. guest comment; We are all members but some of us choose not to pay for the extra features. I don't care to discuss politics here and I can find plenty of girl pics elsewhere. This site is owned by a corporation, not a fellow boater.

I sold a heads up display on here and sent it the buyers boat rigger. The rigger didn't like it all and buyer raised up about it. I just told him to keep it and sent the money back threw pay pal to him. This seller should do the same. Stand up for what your selling. It this doesn't happen we will all be getting screwed more times than not. Stand up for what you buy or sell on here gentalmen. This is the only way to assure that we don't all get screwed and buy junk. I don't know who he is but OSO. Should step in it this guy doesn't do right by this deal.

With all due respect, why did you let him have a second go at you after the first screwing?

I don't know the guy, but I would at least given him a chance to refund your money for his mistake before publicly announcing him "ripping you off". Give him a chance to fix his mistake, we all make them sometimes.

As for this clown $25,000 for a running 31ft viper with 580hp was not a screw i told him i would give him his money back but he pulled the motors out and put his junk in it and sold the boat on ebay for $24,000

That is bs. He said he wanted ss drives and you sold him something different. It's 100% on you. Don't say a word in your defence- there is none. Send him a check including his original shipping costs. If you want them back include his shipping expenses as well.

I don't care who I was buying from,asking for one simple pic would have stopped this transaction.

I pm'ed him on 4 separate occasions asking for pictures, providing my E-mail address to send them too. He always replied saying he would, but never did. I assumed, like me at the time, he was buried under 5 feet of snow and dealing with mother nature as well. So I gave him some time. After some time waiting, I asked for pics one more time. He replied apologizing for no pics and said if I still wanted it sight unseen he would knock two hundred bucks off. This is the point where I should have known something was wrong. But these SS pieces are so uncommon, I was just happy to think I found one.

If the offer was still open to return it, I'm not sure if Iwas feel cmfortable doing it. If I invest 70 bucks in shipping this thing back to him, and he keeps my money AND the drive, then I feel it's shame on me for allowing him to take advantage of me again. I guess what I'm saying is I don't think I trust Paul enough to continue this deal or make another with him. Does that make sense to you guys? Or am I being paranoid about this?
