I see this one a lot. This idiots have actually called a few of us in our IT department. I let the one guy go on and on, then I told him I knew what was going on and that I have been in IT for 15 years and have seen it all. He still insisted he was trying to help me. Finally he hung up on me.
What they do is get you to go to a website that will then allow them to control your PC. They will screw it up in the background, then convince you to spend $$ to fix the issue. If you call their bluff, they will render your PC useless. My Uncle fell for it....... When they call they will say they are from "Windows assistance" or something like that. Microsoft will NEVER call you. THey don't give a dman if your PC is messed up as they already have your $$ for a Windows license.
