Pictures Required

If we are required to post pictures of the equipment we were selling, would this help alleviate some of the problems people are having? Would it help protect the seller when stated "as is", "slightly used", or new? Other sites that I'm on require pics, location, and price when selling the item.

Just a thought, what say you.

F357 06-13-2014 11:53 AM

Maybe but whats to keep them from tuching up a photo. Dishonest people will find a way to cheat and scam its what they do. The best thing we can do is to make everyone aware of who the dishonet people are. Knowledge is power

Griff 06-13-2014 12:13 PM

Its up to the sellers to protect their own interests with pics and how the money is exchanged.

OSO provides the swap shop as a place for people to list items for free. OSO is not going to regulate every listing.

Gh700xx 06-13-2014 12:17 PM

that and some of us just don't feel like having to pay to post pics on here when every other forum were on doesn't require you to pay for such a simple and seemingly complimentary service.

ham_r_down01 07-04-2014 09:04 AM

Posting pics is free if you have a photobucket account.

Perhaps one of the regular people in the swap shop could be made a moderator.
What's so hard about that?

If you are touching up photos, then they belong in the beware and stolen section.

mike tkach 07-04-2014 09:39 AM

pictures will not reveal bad gears in assembled drive,or internal problems inside of an engine,or rot in a transom etc,the list goes on and on.it is unfortuinate but there will always be dishonest people taking advantage of swap shop section,i recomend not bying anything of higher value sight unseen.i believe the beware section is a good way to warn others about these dishonest people so they cant screw others.i dont know why some threads get poofed from the beware section but it is not good when that happens,2 things i hate are liars&thiefs, and a dishonest seller is both.first they lie about the item forsale, then they steal your money.

Nothing...........Baja226sport is the moderator for the Swap Shop.
I also look through the ads in the swap shop nearly everyday. If it looks like a scam, we'll address it.

In reality, it is up to the buyer. If a buyer has concerns, but would like to purchase an item he should use some type of third party for an inspection or escrow.service for the payment.

Gh700xx 07-07-2014 01:35 AM

Yeah well a photo bucket is a PITA and still just a link not posting a pic. Every other forum I'm in and there are a plenty have free pics so kinda dumb to not be able to post em here without paying.

Nmbr1GMfan 07-07-2014 08:00 AM

OT, but why is it so many people have issues posting pictures? It must be extremely simple if I can do it.

vintage chromoly 07-07-2014 08:46 AM

I would like to see pictures an an asking price in the swap shop.

If you really want to sell something, how about showing us what you have and telling us what you want for it?

It would be simple if it was free and not something you have to pay for. Im not going to start a photo bucket or flickr or wtf ever just so I can post a link to it when I can post to every other forum or fb straight from my phone with a couple clicks and touches of the screen.

Sunrocket24 07-07-2014 10:13 AM

I agree it would be nice not to have to be a paying member to directly post pictures. I pay because I don't want the extra hassle when posting pictures. I am on a truck forum and it’s the same way you have to pay to post pictures directly, so I am a paying member on that forum for the same reason.

Gh700xx 07-07-2014 02:22 PM

see to me that's dumb ive been a member to the turbo forums and probably 5 or 6 different mustang sites and even bangshift etc.... don't have to pay to post whatever you want. So I just feel its asinine to have to pay here and I refuse to.

Rattlesnake Jake 07-07-2014 03:32 PM

When I post (Seldom) in the swap section items for sale I always add send me your email address and I will send pictures. I've found that those that take the time to do that genuinely are buyers and not tire kickers.
MY 2¢

Not true. Don't have to pay to post pics. I do it all the time with zero issues.

On another note, I have often wondered why a seller wouldn't want to post pics of their item in the ad whether required or not. It would help a potential buyer without having to ask for some pics. I'm always humored at an ad that says "reply with email and I'll send pics". Seems a chit ton easier to me to post one set of pics in initial ad rather than email some to 50 tire kickers that have requested them.

Apologies to anyone I may have offended. I tend to look at things a little more straight forward than others.

Here's a pic posted without using the uploader from this site. No problem at all. So easy a caveman could do it.

Yes I can also post pictures from Photobucket on OSO not a big deal. That's not my point

I pay so I can just upload them directly from my computer to OSO. Instead of uploading to Photobucket then getting the link and posting to OSO.

I have better things to do than upload photos all day to one site so I can post them later on another site.

Anyways that's a GREAT pic of the Bullet Buck!

Thank you for the compliment.

Was just trying to show those saying it can't be done that they are misinformed.

Yes I agree with you, I'm not an expert on any forums. This topic comes up all the time on OSO about posting pictures on the forum. I am not a member of any forums that let you post pics directly without paying. So if you are a member of one of those forums and don't have to pay and then you join OSO I can see how it would be frustrating.

This is OSO we burn more money in a few minutes in our boats in gas than a membership. So either spend the money on a membership or use a site like photobucket.

That may be but I'm a believer in keeping it simple and having to spend all the bull**** time to go get a photobucket or go get a flickr or some other bull then have to post to them then post to here or put a link is a big waste of time and effort. My time to me is worth more money than it is to pay to post pics or deal with that BS so NO I wont pay. Which really sucks because I have and will have a couple more projects that would be cool to share but im not paying to post it when im paying out the ass to do the project.
