turn it in to the insurance fraud division and let them investigate it. Give the outdrive serial number to a Merc dealer to run and see what comes up beforehand just to make sure about what was sold to you. 27 K to fix what ? that sure sounds like a lot. even for a transom assembly replacement and drive all brand new for one side.

My same question as other thread...
you are kidding right???
you are kidding right???
I took my 96 38' Fever down to RF Marine back late 2013 for Portside XR repair after hitting something in water. RF the 3rd quoted my insurance company for replacing port XR, props, and labor close to $17,000. I recently one month ago had yet another problem with same drive, come to find out RF took XR off my boat and replaced it with older Bravo 1 upper and internals. First part number on insurance quote for XR upper does not bring up any part at all (Bad # Given) and all other part numbers were for XR parts that were not used on my boat. Getting my boat repaired just cost me $10,000 out of pocket, on top of $17,000 given by insurance company. What kind of business does this?

Calling bs, or the most ignorant boat owner ever. Who pays out that kind of money and doesn't at least look at the drive for a minute and say "wow I paid a lot for that shiny black drive" or "wtf??? That drive doesn't look new?"

is this the same Fountain owner who bought a '99, only to discover a year or more later it was an '89??
They all look alike ya know. I can see the overlook.
