After Ed did the survey on the last boat I purchased. I knew exactly what I was getting. I didn't have chance to put my eyes on it myself. After his report it was up to me whether to purchase or not. I was 100% happy with the survey. The question is that I need the survey? I personally didn't but the Insurance company required it. I was very happy and trusted Steve from TNT Marine. So I pretty much knew what I was getting

BEWARE!!! ED COZZI MAY NOT CALL YOU BACK!!!?? LOL

This thread is pointless.

Good luck with the boat - I hope she turns out to be a gem. If not, I'm sure the seller will get a call !

the OP listed a THOROUGH PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION that means it should include full mechanical inspection and testing. This is where I keep saying I'm lost with. Why hire a surveyor only. Not everyone buys from TNT plus TNT is not going to have a POS boat in their hands anyways. Not their client base, - most boat buyers buy form repo outlets or even auto shops that buys repos from auctions, private owners and whomever is selling on craigslist in which a lot of those used boats needs many mechanical side issues addressed as it seems to be the norm.

So if one is buying off of craigslist in which prob a place where more used boats are bought in one week than any other outlet in one year timeframe - You mean your not going to have a somewhat indepth mechanical inspection performed or I should say the dumb azzes that did not because this is the norm. I see this daily - buy a used boat - cause the selling person says it was a great boat - its a used boat never seen one that did not need something and to be addressed, whether its a cheap fix or your better off parting out the POS trying to recoup some of your money back. Anyways good luck with your boat - I will move to something better in the forums. Sorry to have wasted anyones time

Default Consider yourself lucky

Unfortunately, we did rely on Cozzi to perform a survey on our Amberjack... after all, he bills himself as an Amberjack specialist. When our boat died in the water the third time we had her out, we had another inspector take a look at her. What did Cozzi miss? The delamination of the starboard side of the hull forward of the engine must be repaired. The loose gelcoat in the engine room should be removed and surfaces recoated. Both engines must be replaced along with the motor mounts. The outdrives are heavily corroded but may be useable for a while longer, not more than a year or two. All worn/abraded hydraulic lines must be replaced. The steering components must be dismantled, corrosion removed, and surfaces painted. Some parts may require replacement. The generator should be tested, and if in good working order, all corrosion cleaned and painted/treated with corrosion inhibitor. The freshwater pump will need replacement soon if not now. The fuel filter and filter housing for the generator should be replaced. The trim tabs must be carefully reviewed and repaired as needed. The forward carpet should be cleaned, and dried. If the stains cannot be removed it may need to be replaced for improved cosmetic appearance. The steering wheel must be replaced. The non-working Raymarine plotter should be removed. The VHF must be replaced. Cost to us $53,000.

A Sea Ray Amberjack?
This post is very suspicious, what you're alleging is that he didn't look at the boat. No mariner let alone a surveyor would miss some of that stuff. Post the real story and you might get some traction around here.

So you bought a complete and utter POS without a single functioning system??? Did they have to refloat it from being sunk at the dock when you took delivery?? Was the anchor scratched??

Not believing it , you sound like the original thread starter trying to stir the pot again .I have used Ed twice in past years and both times with great results, and would contact him again if needed .

Curiosity got the best of me so I googled what the boat was....Lots out there in on-line classifieds, but when you see pics that highlight the plastic cockpit gauge panels and show pics like this engine compartment - it doesn't take a brain surgeon that the boat is a money pig as that corrosion/ maintenance isn't just surface clean-up.

I don't know what the latest complainer has for experience but if it looks bad in pics, and they all have pics, it is in reality. VERY few boats are ever better than expected as it takes a rare breed of owner.

Post the inspection or be gone. My guess is that we won't hear from this clown again.

Sounds to me like you elected to have the survey done with the boat in the water. Post a copy of your survey and contract with Ed Cozzi or your post will be deleted.
