Scammed by Vanessa Mendez, [email protected], paid for Bravo gears and never received them and not returning calls or email. Phone goes direct to answering service.

I was close. This part of the conversation threw up the flag for me. Hate to hear you got scammed. Had changed my mind and was going to just drive there to pick up what I needed but looks like I’m going to save 7 hours of driving.

Was this from an OSO listing?? or if on FB, was that her name used for the listing??

I got a pm from a listing in the wtb section. Unfortunately I am an unpaid member and am short on message space so I deleted their message a month ago. The number when googled brings up a user name on other forums that might be what it is here, however it sucks to try to look on my phone.

Sorry, I gave you about nothing to go off of.

Any yes, they wanted Paypal. I just opened a case with Paypal resolution center.

Never do Friends and Family with PayPal when buying something. That is for gifts only and it is a known scam that PayPal usually wont side with you on and the scammer knows it.

I’ve been scammed by the buyer with PayPal a few times.
They try to beat you up in price, finally give into your price, then when they get the part file a claim but refuse to return it.

One general rule of thumb I go by is that if it is a Gmail address, chances are it is a scam. I see it ALL over Craigslist and Facebook. Gmail address's are SOOOO easy to start. Before you all jump in my ****, I'm not saying all are scams. Just in my experience.

Nice, I received a USPS shipping code, only problem is USPS doesn't recognize it. Surprise surprise!

This person admitted to being a fraud over text. They got me for $500. I put a burner app on my phone and text them multiple times a day from the app to the point they asked me to leave them alone and sorry for scamming me. I requested $50,000 from that PayPal account. If anything, I’m going to get $500 worth of enjoyment out of this.

Can anyone post their oso name so they can be kicked off?

griff they got me too apparently. User name is poudysailer . they replied to a part wanted post. Same mo wanted paypal and screenshot of payment. Tired of thiefs.

Looks like i may have got lucky and was able to cancell the paypal payment. Thanks for the info. Sorry they got you.

That guy tried to get me on a set of headers, but he kept referring to them as a single part. Saying it was tested and it was in working condition. Seemed off so I stopped replying and deleted his text.

Googling the phone number brings up something on a gun site. I signed up and can’t find the thread it previews.

So we have a phone service number, a gmail account name, and a paypal account for this scumbag.

Someone out here must know how to track him down and teach him a lesson!

The Merlinn screen name is banned now also.
The registration email address for that name is [email protected]
IP address is different from the other name.

He text me again this morning. Told him go away. He’s been outed on dozens of sites

Maybe just deal with established members of OSO? Or, if reasonable, meet and do the transaction in person. I would never send a stranger money in any form.

That’s what I do, and feel it’s kinda common sense, but these scammers get people every day.

People like this blow me away. I know I’ve had my doubts with all my dealings online. I count my blessing that there’s way more honest people on this forum then dishonest.

I bought a pair of imco lowers off FB last year, supposed to have just installed new bearings and had 2 seasons on gears... when I received them they both had skegs damaged, the seller said it happened in shipping... I brought them to Dick ( Mr Gadgets ) to take apart and inspect...gears were junk, bearings and races were pitted and 1 prop shaft was gouged where the seal rides...paid with MO..$5400 down the drain...sometimes I just hate people...😔
