Beware: Hall's Propeller Service

Anyone considering using Hall's prop service in Christmas, Fla. please beware. I was advised to use him because he is one of the best. well maybe if you're a racer but not a everyday performance boater.
He has had my 2 props since July 28th, and has had a friend of mine's whom I sadly advised to use Hall's,since June. Both mine and his were done once by Mike with terrible results, He said to send them back and he would redo them, we did and never got them back. I don't like to badmouth anyone without giving them a chance to correct problem, but I have made at least 100 phone calls, never having even one call returned. My attorney send him a letter, but nothing has helped. Because of this snake,my entire summer was spend with borrowed props, which were too small to get the performance I thought I was paying for. As of this date, I still have no props, and would like to prevent anyone else from having the same problems. Our season is to short for these kind of problems, One last word BE CAREFUL!!!

PhantomChaos 11-11-2003 07:16 PM

Bummer! What do they say when you call?

J.V.IRONHANDS 11-11-2003 07:22 PM

That's just it, I can't even get him to answer the phone, at the shop or his cell phone.

dhlaw 11-11-2003 07:24 PM

John,
I will be going to Orlando in the coming week. I also left a prop there for Bruce (mine) to get work done. I will run down mike and get the stuff back.

FormulaFan 11-11-2003 07:29 PM

I have heard that he (hall) will be in orange beach today or tomorrow! Good luck!

J.V.IRONHANDS 11-11-2003 07:35 PM

Thanks Brett, any help would be appreciated. If you send me a pm I can give you the name of the guy who also has a prop at hall's.

THEJOKER 11-11-2003 10:26 PM

Man I hate to hear this about Mike. He has done some good work for me over the years. Mike ole buddy it's time to get right with our OSO brother. What's the deal? I will try and make a phone call to see what's up. BH

R Addiction 11-11-2003 11:35 PM

He's here.

panteraman28 11-12-2003 04:25 AM

I had Mike do a prop for me last year, gave me not only the best price on a prop but was buy far one of the best lab finish jobs Ive ever seen

snopro13 11-12-2003 03:49 PM

He has had mine since June 2nd. I have also tried everything with no results. My lawyer has talked to him and was assured he would send my prop back by the end of the week, that was back in August!!! The prop I sent him was new. Too bad Fl. is soooo far away!!!!

Velocity Tom 11-12-2003 05:16 PM

Mike at halls has allways done my props and all my friends props with fantastic gains. Im not shure what is up with your props but Ill look in to it. I spet mony with every prop co. out there and he allways got me more.Sorry about your luck with halls .

Padraig 11-12-2003 05:55 PM

I had Mike do one of my props last spring. Very good results and fast service. I hope he resolves this problem. sorry for your trouble.

Lickitysplit 11-12-2003 06:48 PM

I also have experience with Mike:

I had read postings on OSO that he did good work and was relatively close buy (2 hours). I was uncomfortable with sending my props hundreds of miles away for the exact reason that you guys mention above.

When I pulled into his place I really wondered if it was a good idea o leave him my only set of props, but said what the hey and left them.

A couple of days later I called...no answer...no returned message. The next day I called...no answer no return message. I checked his web page....it was gone...I kicked myself...I knew better.....

Called the next day, Mike answered. Said to come buy and pick up the props they were finished. Said he'd been having trouble with his phones. Checked his web page, it was back up and running. I went by a couple of days later and he had done a first class job on the props. It was a scary experience .....but he did a first class job......

Keep trying him....I can't believe that a guy that shows up at all the APBA races would try to duck the very customers he needs to keep him in business.

Lick-it-y-split.......

THEJOKER 11-12-2003 09:18 PM

I relayed a message to a friend of Mike's . The more people calling the better. Mike can U HEAR US NOW? BH

J.V.IRONHANDS 11-13-2003 07:49 AM

Thanks guys, the more pressure the better, what really urks me is that I know he does good work, as is proven by our oso members, but definitly doesn't follow through. I will know next time not to send them 1200 mi. away. Hang in the Snopro, one way or another we'll get them back, but I don't think they will be redone, but at least we will have them, John

bad boyz 11-13-2003 07:59 AM

I`VE HEARD NOTHING BUT POSITIVE THINGS
ABOUT HIM,BUT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS GET
SOMETHING IN WRITING WHEN LEAVING
THE PARTS WITH ANYONE OR A SIGNED
TRACKING NUMBER.

WHEN IN DOUBT, USE THROTTLE UP I HAVE
ONE OF THERE PROPS I BAUGHT FROM AN
OSO MEMBER,AND MAN IT IS FLAWLESS.

J.V.IRONHANDS 11-13-2003 08:03 AM

I'm hearing that more and more about Julie at Throttle up, she's at the world's but I will call her Tuesday. I have the tracking number, but it does no good is the clown won't answer the phone.

Kent Perroux 11-13-2003 08:26 AM

I have used Halls for many years. He is a very small (one-person) operation and does all of the work by hand. You would never know he is one of the most sought after prop guys by driving up to his shop. First time I went there I expected to see nothing but 5-20hp fishing boat props. And yes, he does not answer the phone very much; I think all that grinding (and loud exhausts) has defended his hearing.

Unless he has recently added help, he does all the props himself. I don't doubt that he has more work than he can keep up with now. I know people that won't send their props anywhere else.

I guess our Central Florida secret is no longer a secret.

I have to agree with Kent. He is small single person shop with lots of props to work on. He is also traveling a lot to races and to work with different race teams. We have used Mike for our F2 & F1 boats since 1998 as well as my lake boat and he always does great work.

I will try to get a hold of him & relay your issues.

Joe 11-13-2003 12:30 PM

I bought an extra set of props just for that reason. You can call Scott Ryerson in Sarasota. He's hooked up with Innovation, Dirty Duck and several of the other race teams. He gave me a great price on two props and facilitated getting them to Merc. to lab them and then shipped directly to me. Quick turnaround and great price.

Steve, You need to get a photo up of your boat on your avatar. It's too nice not to show it off!

Have fun in K West and Orange. Wish I could have made it!!!! See you in a couple weeks back in Austin.

I recently had a great experience with Throttle-Up as well!!

Props

I have had several sets of props done by Hall. Got them back as promised and I am 500 miles away. Great prop job. He rarely answers the phone while working, but has always gotten back to me. He was away this past week at the races. I have had no problem talking with him.
As usual, there are probably 2 sides to every story.

snopro13 11-15-2003 08:09 AM

Steet, you are right there are always two sides to every story. I would sure as hell like to hear his side since I haven't seen my prop since June 2nd,and I have a Visa bill for $325 dollars that I paid back in June.

Indy 11-15-2003 08:34 AM

Not returning calls while your working is understandable, not returning them at all is bad customer service...period. The issue here is not the quality of the lab service, but the customer service.

THEJOKER 11-15-2003 10:19 AM

I consider Mike a friend and he has done some good work over the years for me. But Mike c'mon man get these guy's their props back and give a little extra for taking so long. I loaned a prop to a race team associated with Mike and it took (2) years to get it back. Mike get with the program - CUSTOMER SERVICE! BH

In-The-Red 11-15-2003 10:27 AM

Hall is obviously a Miami Hurricanes fan is still peaved about what you boys from Ohio State did in last years championship game!

J.V.IRONHANDS 11-24-2003 12:17 PM

Anybody run into Mike in Alabama or Key West? Still haven't heard from him.

kitten 11-25-2003 01:56 PM

He personally delivered our props on Nov 7 for
FlashWave. I saw him in O B. He always does great work & in a timely manner!!

jreuscher 04-13-2012 10:51 PM

Had excellent work and customer service from them

I have had excellent service and work from Hall's. I highly recommend them to anyone within an hour's driving. I received same-day service on a pretty beat up stainless steel prop.

after reading your review. i called mike as he had my prop over 2 weeks after ha had promised it in a week, and got no answer so i drove 45miles to his place and the prop he had said was almost done had not been touched so i just told him to forget it and took it home. took same prop to annother dealer in orlando that i had heard was good and dropped it off on friday and they returned it the next wednesday was less expensive that mike and worked great. he must just like to work on the racing type props as he had just finished two big 4 blade ss when i got there

ham_r_down01 06-16-2016 10:32 AM

13 years old now. Still in business, everyone has a busy week here and then. Must be doing something right.

😡🤬😡🤬

My boyfriend had dropped off our prop to halls to fix and it was suppose to be 1 week but it has been about a month now and we are not to happy because what he is doing is very unprofessional and I’m not happy with this. If anyone else has this issue please feel free to share. But we are definitely not going to recommend him ever. Have a blessed day.
