Grand Bahama/Lucaya Aug. 7-10
Black Thunder owners,
We're heading over to Freeport Grand Bahama on Thursday August 7th. If you've not been to the Bahamas or concerned about making the trip alone, you're welcome to run over with us.
Two other Friends are coming with their 38 Cigarettes. (Special Ops and Eurotrash) Yes I know,,,,, but remember what our parents said about being nice to those less fortunate
Take care,
Steve

The trip was great! Little bumpy going over thursday, 3-5's in the gulfstream, otherwise sunny and crystal clear water. Coming back sunday weather about same, 3 to 5 swells and a 15 knot wind. If you do make the run, the Westin at Our Lucaya is a teriffic resort for the entire family. Get the ocean view rooms, it's postcard perfect.
We were blessed with good Friends who travelled with us in their Cigarettes. Gary Lickel, Michelle, Aaron and Kyle in Special Ops and Richard, Laura and Rachel Fulton, Gary and Ilene Beard in Eurotrash, both of these boats are twin step 38s. You put together Good friends, safe boating, a magical destination, and you once again realize how very fortunate we are to be boaters.
Hope you can make the trip with us next year.

The distance depends on where you depart the USA. If you leave from Palm Beach inlet it's about 70 miles +/- to West end (EZ to clear Bahamian Customs there ((Old Bahama Bay)), not as crowded) and then another 20 or so to Freeport.
Once you get to West end you can hug the shore the rest of the way to Freeport and you're pretty weather safe.
We normally depart from our home inlets of either Hillsboro or Boca Raton which adds another 30 miles or so to the trip.
We're going to Spanish Cay over Memorial day weekend which is another 90 miles beyond Freeport. If you wanted to tag along to West End you're welcome to. We'll pass to it's north and round the upper side of Freeport Although this time we're taking the Sea Ray 54' with a cruise speed of about 26 knots. If you can run that slow, you're wlecome to follow along till you feel comfortable where you're headed.
