The fact is that the water popo aren't going to stop and Congress is not going to extend the 4th Amendment to our boats so, in order to avoid making a bad thing worse, the answer is to make sure you aren't over the limit and make sure you have your act together when it comes to a safety inspection. I have found that great satisfaction can be had by sending the water popo on their way empty handed (the more aggressive they are, the more satisfactory it is!).
I agree on it being a legit stop. At the beginning of the video the driver looks to be holding a beer.

I got a BUI back in 92 in Prescott Wisc.Pretty sure Im the first one on the planet to be charged with BUI.BAC was .11,legal limit at the time was .10.Pierce Co fined me $370.The worst part of the whole ordeal was the embarrassment of being walked up the dock to the squad car in handcuffs.Spent 4 hrs in the slammer and was back on the boat by 11 pm.Now days I never drink while behind the wheel of a boat, not worth the risk of an accident or being put in those handcuffs.

Well, I have to agree, the one good thing to come from my ordeal is that I don't operate ANYTHING if I have had a beer. There have been times when everyone is beached up and having a few beers, and it's tempting, but I will NEVER break the rule, EVER. As pissed-off as I can become about the whole deal, I did learn the lesson.
