I have been talking to this seller for a few days. I'm very interested in learning more, but I'm really a newbie.

I know it is old, and has some issues...as is to be expected for a boat that isn't "updated".
Any ideas or opinions? I know it needs the following:
New gimbal bearing/boot in 1 of the drives
Some gel-coat work on the bow (he sent me pics of the damage)
Other than this - he said he can run it for me (on land), and we're talking about a trade deal for my 22' Scarab (turn-key boat).
Any opinions highly appreciated.

I didn't get it. He did want to trade me (straight up) for my 22' Scarab Excel, but to be honest...it is a LOT of boat. That wasn't the reason I didn't trade though. It just seemed like I was biting off more of a project than I can handle. Especially with a baby on the way (wife due in Feb.). He couldn't get 1 of the engines to start...but I think it was just flooded.
Either way...I couldn't accept trading my boat that I can run right now with NO issues for this large of a project. I would need to spend a minimum of $5000-7000 to get it in the water safely and with piece of mind. I just didn't have the time or the $$ on hand to commit.
If anyone else wants it...it's in Houston. She's a great looking boat...just needs a complete overhaul (interior and exterior) to really be presentable.

I used to race the ss9m, 30' in the 80's. First as "Country Boys" M-72 and then as "Karateka" C-72. First boat had Custom engine serv. motors... the second had Randys C and G(Cobra) all small blocks. I sold the boat to a friend in PR.
A great runner. Humberto Picon and I were good friends for a long time. I havnt seen him in a while though. Someone said he's selling cars in Homestead.
