I was carrying roughly 150 gallons of fuel and no passengers
prop is an old dinged up stock Powertech 4 blade prop 25P
propshaft approx 2.75" - 3" below hull.
engine is a 502 bored 40over (509) stock crank and rods, J&E pistons,stock rectangle port heads, custom cam, HP500 intake and carb with aluminum manifolds

not too shabby for a 20+ year old 6000lb boat with mild power..
Couldnt give it much trim under 30mph, the faster I went the more I could trim without blowing out prop.
I also have to learn have to drive it as its only my third time out on it, started a little side to side dance so I didnt trim it any higher..
With right prop, more seat time, more chop and 100 less gallons of fuel Im thinking 72-72mph?

try a px5 or max 5 blade or a 1/2'' spacer cause you don't have a box right, I bet with the right set up 76, I have my ace drive =konrad with a box set at 3'' but still waiting for my motor, Ibought a px5 and a b1 4 blade to try. thats a nice boat you got good luck. and a great start but I think with out a notched reansom or stepped hull or box us straight vees like 4'' to 5''. from what I researched over the last few years. but a 5 blade might do the trick and its cheaper to start high then space down. good luck keep posting.

I may eventually,right now I am tapped out except for gas and drink expenses. Honestly I spend 90% of my time cruising around at 40-50mph and it doing some numbers my slip on my 69mph runs today was 13% which isnt that bad.
This winter I plan to redo some things and a spacer will be a very good possibility.
In the meantime I will be getting some seat time and learning it.
Did I mention what a ***** a single engine 27 ft boat is to park in slip a 20mph sidewind? LOL ,, was pretty ugly!

last note, I gained almost 5mph over my 1500lb lighter 6 ft shorter Chappy with 6 deg less deadrise using the same engine ,,
lesson learned on how important a good hull is.

13% is great are you in the conn area, if I get my motor soon and hook up on someruns down that way I have a new 26 b1 labbed that I could bring for you to try. but 13 is a great # with a 150gals of gas wait till your at 50 to 70 gals you will pick up a few.

Wow, boat is flying! Great first numbers. Drive height is critical on this hull. Sounds like your very close. Whats the diameter of that prop your using? Maybe Bravo 1 with more diameter would help. Used a 5 blade P5X on mine before, better out of the hole and great midrange pull, but lost alittle top end. It may work with your drive height ??

Oh, BTW.... that boat has a 150 gallon fuel capacity?? Are you sure? Set up for a single? Thats alot of fuel for a 27 ft boat w/ a single engine. I think mine was like 80 gallon capacity.

tried a Bravo 24p , lost midrange, blew out easier and top speed dropped to 65mph.
The powertech actually has more blade surface than the Bravo.
I would love to try a P5x but dont have any money left right now except for fuel.
Fuel tank on mine is 200gallons , I have already put in $200 twice and both times it was already about half full and it never made it to full
According to Alex Picon, son of Carrera owner Humberto tanks were anywhere between 80 to 200..I must have gotten the big boy..
My previous Chappy had an 80gal tank and it was a small 21ft originally with a 350
so I am used to big tanks. Since i keep it in the water it cuts down on refueling stops.

Wow, lots of fuel! Well atleast the boat will ride like a caddy with that much fuel. Maybe with the 5 blade, you wont need the spacer ?? Great job with the boat. Now I wish I tried raising the x dim. on my boat . With 690 HP that thing should have been pretty fast! I saw it out last weekend, wehen I see him again, Ill tell him to do it !!!!
