Default I always do my winter projects in April

I wanted to do this over the winter but just didn't have the time. Pulled the motor last weekend to paint the engine compartment and tidy up hoses and wires. It was always messy looking and I hated raising the hatch..... Water/steering hoses as well as all the wires need to be re-routed. Replacing drive bellows and adding a sea strainer. You can see in the pic where the previous owner had 5" exhaust that required notches in the back bulkhead. I filled the holes in the transom when I painted the outside 2 years ago. Also removed the swim platforms and filled the holes on ythe outside. Now I'll clean up all those holes on the inside. You can see the big notch in the forward bulkhead from the blower belt. The guy had BIG power in here before I bought it and I've heard it was in the triple digits.

I hope to be back in the water by 3rd week of May.

Also.....Think of the gas money I'm saving not being able to boat!

I'll add pics as I go

The exterior rebuild looks great. Good luck with the interior. Wette Vette on the board repainted the bilge of his WPM with some special kind of paint, you might want to pm him to find out want he used. I would worry about missing any good boating, as long as your in by Memorial day weekend!

Good luck with your project.

By the way, I love 251's especially yours can't beat the yellow!

Thanks!

Finially making progress. Need to have a steering hose made tomorrow, get battery cables and pick up the sea strainer from the welder. I had two stainless bars welded to the bottom of it to mount it to the floor. Theres no room to mount it to the stringer using the original brackets. New cockpit carpet goes in on thursday. Friday should be headers and plug wires.......

Don't mind the valve covers in this pic, they are just there to keep the dirt out. The polished aluminum ones are in the garage.
