SUPER AIR, I have my original Aluminum Hi-Rise off my 1991 454 Magnum if you're interested. Also have my original set of Rectangular Port heads. Send an email to me if interested.
Regarding your original question, my understanding was Merc added the rev-limiter sometime in the early to mid 1990's. I called the Merc Tech and gave them my engine serial number and got the answer. But then again mine is a 1991 - no rev-limiter.
