Thought about one of them Merc Revolution 4's since PB mag's test showed it to be so good. Checkmate recomended a Turbo. Sure wish I had a BB in mine and thought about building the 350 Mag up some. Instead, we'll wait and go for a bigger boat next year. Haven't decided what exactly, but the 'Mates will be considered highly!

hi guys, I have a 98 242 sport w/502mpi all stock w/22 hydro, runs 68 on gps.

My 97 253 best Run was 80.8 on the GPS this year. 27 4 blade Hydro @ 5300 - 5400. :)

Bought 1990 convincor 251 gtx mid last season.
330hp all stock, bravo drive with new mirage plus 23p
ran 58-59 on speedo@ 4200. Hope to have gps for next season.

convincor i believe you should be faster than that and turning a couple hundred rpms more

nice to see those 80+ mph checks. i went the way of the bandwagon and purchased a 25 baja outlaw shortly after first posting this. with a 500efi and some tweaks i am breaking 80mph myself!

2000 Pulsare 2001 Merc 3.0 225efi 23 tempest 6inch jackplate with 2inch land and sea setback. Ran 76mph on gps down in Gulf Shores on salt water, 73mph fresh water at lake monroe IN. This is my third Checkmate,but not my last. I want Bill and Kip to build me a 260 (242) with brackets to mount 2 Mercury outboards.

242 convincor running a 454 mag carbed and 22 bravo 1 4 blade wheel, running 4750 @62mph. Do you guys think that if i put on a hydro i would get a little faster? give me some input.

I have a 1991 251 GTX 454 BB 68 on GPS @ 5200. Spinning a mirage 24 cup was added. I'm looking for prop information, alot of guys are spinning 4-blade hydromtive will this will with chin walk. I need more speed. Like we all do. I think I will try talking to some one there about a 22 or 24 4-blade can you try before you buy.

I've got a 90 251 gtx that i just put a 502 in (see under "motor mounts")
I've got a 25" mirage on it now and it's only spinning at 46-4700 @ 68 on speedo.
I'm in the same boat as you. Havn't really got a strait answer.
I'm going to call Hydromotive when I get a chance and see what the suggest.
Going to try a Bravo 1 this weekend. My dealer let's you demo for free. Going to try a 23" and a 24"

I did run an 88 251, 513ci Gen V, 690hp, ran 90mph with 27 Mirage, 5975rpm. Most of the time I did run a 25 Mirage, could turn it 6300rpm.

New boat, still a work in progress.. 283 Convincer 99'. 565" 400hp?? Imco stand off box, 26 Bravo labbed, one run so far at 80.1 on the gps. Only need 11mph to catch my buddy's best speed from last year in his 283...

I have a 1994 253 with a built hp 500 that has about 650hp. @ 5500 rpm. the boat will run 80 on gps give or take depending on water conditions

Anyone know what speed you could expect from a 1998 Convinsor with a HP 500 in it? Is this the exact same boat as the current Convinsor 300?

I had 1996 242 Convincor with Joey Griffin built 540. On 14lbs of boost (VP C17 gas) I ran a top speed of 110.1 mph on GPS, spinning Spinelli 14.5x31 at 6,000. Every day speed was 101.3mph on 10lbs of boost, spinning Mach 15x29 Patriot prop at 5,800rpm. Best part, boat was as stable at 110.1 as it was at 80.

Checkmate 110, what drive where you running ? And what was your HP ? Sounds like an hell of a ride. I have a new 572(NA) I am getting ready to drop into my 251.

I was running a Bravo I drive with all IMCo inside (1:36). The motor dyno'd at 794hp@6000 and 833flbs@5,400. That was on 10 pounds of boost and no NOS. To the best of my guesstimaion on 15lbs the motor was probably putting out between 1,000 to 1,100hp and then I had a 250hp NOS kit for good measure. With 150hp NOS and pump gas (10lbs of boost) the boat ran 101mph. The boat was a lot of fun.

New here. My 1992 Enforcer 230 ran 71 on the speedo with the stock 7.4L Bravo One turning a 25 Mirage. That is until last week when the head gasket blew at 515 Hrs. Upgrade fever has me considering upgrading to a new 496 HO or a 502 MPI crate engine at this point. Hopefully be back on the Potomac river by end of July.

I'm going to take a look at a 28ft. 91 Checkmate Maxxum w/502c.i. 390 h.p.
Bravo 1> Seller tells me there are 50 hrs on the motor. He also says it cruises at 40 and tops out at 60. Comments appreciated with regard to this boat!

That sounds about right. My 28 w/outboards and a total of 520hp tops out at around 80mph.

I love it!

It is just the right size if I want to go trailer one day without the family, it is still not a burden to launch off the trailer,get in and go. Anything larger I think becomes more involved.

Mine is an '89 but you would never know it.

It is holding up real well.

I have a Checkmate 251 convinvor classic with an Hp500. I run 78mph on the gps. XZ drive with an Imco shorty. 27p bravo 3-blade. I think if the prop was worked it could do an honest 80

lil big boat, thats some good speed, but it dont add up??? how can you be running a 23 pitch at 4700 and get to 73, even with a 1.36 ratio????
