Have a buddy that has a newer 259 (2000), HP500 and had a single carb blower on it. Ran 78 or so. He took the blower off due to drives being expensive to repair. He now runs around 73 without the blower. I think the older boats are heavy in the front compared to the newer ones. Hydraulic steering is a must and you will have to play with props to get the chine walk out of it. Either way you will have your hands full. Checkmate builds a great boat.
What drive do you have on it?

I owned a 2000 259 Convincor for 3yrs. It had a 502, Mooneyham blower, dual holley doubles, full MSD, Holley fuel pump, Marine Machine steering.....I was not at all impressed with it. Chine was horrible and the you could not keep it from porposing in even the lightest chop no matter how you trimmed it or tabbed it.
