I had the same problem at low speed, that roll got me a 34 powerquest the wife hated the checkmate after that, I still think checkmate makes a very good boat and I would buy another one for the right price, kids loved the mcob, the open bows are made better on the newer ones the seats are hinged so they dont bounce around

Wow, you guys are scaring the crap out of me with all this talk of the boat hooking and wanting to roll. I have never had this happen with my 253, and since I do not have indicators on my tabs, I never know where they really are, so I usually just leave them all the way up.

It doesn't do it all the time, its really weird. It seemed to do it at slower speeds, say 30mph, when you would go to make a kind of sharp turn into a cove. Its like the water would push down on the top side of the tab forcing the boat to roll ALOT. Both my parents boat and another friends 270br did the same thing, and yes they both had a little porpoise at cruise as well.
