Checkmate gathering next year
 

were looking to put a checkmate gathering together for next year. looking for suggestions on where to have it. we are thinking ocean city md. would have to be something that is between md and ny and waters that smaller mates would be able to run on.

I know it is not the area you are looking at, but at the checkmate owners forum, they have organized the "Chckmate Owners Rally" at Lake Cumberland for the last 2 or 3 years now.

thanks, i belong there to and have seen the post for it, most of us north east guys didnt go to it, would like to but for me it is a 12 hour ride to and from and for the guys farther north it makes it a little difficult. just trying to maybe set something up closer for the guys up here. we had a checkmate dealer that said he would bring a new boat or two out if we could set something up but no one went through with it. just trying to get suggestions on places to have it. havent done much boating other than the north chesapeake and delaware river so i don't know of many spots that we could hold it.

keep me posted on this, id like to try to make it. md is a bit to far for me, but i could do ny some place.

or do mass. i know i could get atleast 6-8 mates together around here.

noyzee, i will keep you posted we are trying to find something in middle to try to get as much people as possible. we have some guys that would be coming from maryland so maybe jersey shore or north jersey shore in the back bays. if you have any suggestions to a good spot please let me know. also something that smaller mates can run in.

i have no clue about anyplace south of the cape pretty much, ive done ct river and stuff but thats about it.

noyzee, we are trying to find something in the middle to please everyone. so far we have either ocean city md or somewhere down jersey shore like atlantic city,lbi, seaside or wildwood. you can get to them all from back bays. plus has plenty of resturaunts that you can get from water and the boardwalks. i don't think the guys from the bottom of maryland would go up as far as ct. let me know if you or anyone else would make the travel to jersey shore. i think that is probably going to be the half way point in between ct. and md. thanks

i would not rule it out. i could not say for sure as i own my company and some times its hard to get away. but if i can, i would make the drive. pretty sure its about 7 or 8 hours for me.

Wow, didn't think it was that long of a drive. I know the md guys are 3 to 5 hours depending on where we would have it in Nj. Once we decide I will let you know more. Trying to get a little more feedback.

I would think Sandusky bay in Ohio seeing how they where built in Ohio good water ,cedar point ,putt in bay and the list goes on lol,and not a bad drive from the east coast.

I think that might be farther of a ride than most guys can do. for me that is an 8 hour ride and i am probably the closest. i had mentioned raystown lake which is closer and most guys didn't want to make the trip to there. i think a couple of years ago they had the checkmate rally in ohio.

ohio is like 18 hours i think from me

thats why i am trying to get something in middle for the north east guys. alot of people don't have the money or the time to make that kind of a trip. plus if you have a good sized boat your truck is going to drink some fuel . hell i only get 12 mpg with my truck with my boat behind it. gets costly plus putting 300.00 or so in the boat. i don't have that kind of money.

Maybe regional Checkmate rallieS are in order?

It would be nice, last year a checkmate dealer in md said if something would to happen in md he would bring a boat or two. If we do something might give him a call. Would be nice to see some new products

I would be in for Ocean City.

Not to far to tow for us Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River guys.

I am thinking it is going to be at ocean city md. its nice boating there by what i have been told. a lot of things there for the family boaters also. just gonna have to figure a date out.

we were trying to be somewhere around the chesapeake area. there have been a couple of checkmate rallys and gatherings but not anywhere within a couple of hours of the north east.

I had a few Checkmates over the last 20 yrs , since I run the Chesapeake can I attend ?

Sure, were just trying to get some checkmates together but you are more than welcome to come. Just trying to get some fellow boaters together for a good time.

lbi from bridge port ct is 3 1/2 hours. lbi from baltimore md is 3 hours 10 mins. that would be close to in the middle. within and hour boat ride to the north is seaside park and to the south is atlantic city, plus lbi has one of the nicest beaches in jersey. if we did it in ocean city the guys from ct would have to travel 5 to 7 hours depending on which way they go and traffic so you could probably figure they wont come. just trying to pick a place that will work for everyone.
